What's funny, is that in the modern era this actually all started because of Sony.  In 1979 Sony sued to prevent the sale and distribution of VCRs.  Then they tried to prevent the ability for people to rent movies four years later.

Don't know if EULAs would have existed in the modern era without Sony.

The simple answer is no. My longer answer would be "I don't really care."

But, I can see DRM infesting the industry even more since things like this usually work their way through, sadly.

This is the same thought that has been amusing me greatly the past few days.

So many posters have been decrying the supposed DRM of the Xbox One whilst all but in the same breath saying 'but even without it the Xbox One has no real exclusives, I'll just play them all on PC.'

Right, you hate DRM, so you're going to play the games on PC...

There must be just a huge rental and used game market in the gaming industry judging by the responses I've seen on this site, but the many of the posters I see never seemed to be interested In the Xbox brand in the first place, and I know none that actually buys or rent games, or for that matter loans them out to friends, and I'm guessing ms has a large amount If data that shows the used, rental, and loan market has more of a negative effect in sales than positive.

My prediction is the xb1 will be the top selling console in the us and Britain and software sales will be higher that this generation, and I'm guessing ms data probably predicts the same thing.

As a Playstation fan, i would never support Playstation again. DRM is morally wrong and just bad for the industry. I would become a Nintendo/ PC gamer instead. 3DS, Wii U and PC. I couldn't support anyone who supports DRM and i wouldn't go to Xbox either

What about the Vita?

The goal of the publisher in either case is to make more money. For the person actually playing the game, there is a monumental difference between pirating a game illegally, and playing a perfectly legal used game that you paid money for. To a publisher though, there is no difference. It's two people playing a copy of your game for which you saw absolutely no monetary reward for them obtaining it.

All consoles that use DRM i wont buy. Be what they may be.

I understand the need on the PC with the rampant piracy, but the situation on the consoles isnt the same. Piracy is all but extint with the system updates, digital content and online multiplayer. Anyone pirating their games is getting a botched experience. The risks are just not worth it anymore.

This is nothing but greed and an attack at the right of property. May it be Microsoft Sony or someone else, i prefer to leave the games market than to purchase their systems. I am fine staying with just Nintendo and the Wii U (on home consoles) if both of them have DRM.

Maybe since that won't get DRM in anyway. I wouldn't sell my PS3 or anything either, i would just refuse to buy PS4 if it had DRM
