Question is directed at those defending the X1

If Sony's and Microsoft's positions were switched would Microsoft fans attack Sony's drm policies (the same way many gamers attack the drm on the X1)?

Also, in the same senario, would Sony fans defend and accept drm on the PS4?

To Microsoft Fans: Fight the good fight with us.  Fight for consumer rights.  We are headed down a road of no return and imo the future of consoles looks bleak.

For the second part .... if Sony implemented similar policies then I'll just dig up older games for PS3 and embrace the Wii U and PC with open arms. I will not defend or accept that level of DRM on PS4 - ever.

My Internet connection has been down one time in the years I have owned my house. One time, due to my wife frying the FIOS box flipping the wrong circuit breakers. Had that not happened, I'm confident my Internet will have never been down in 5 years or so of living here. I also buy PC games all the time that have DRM worse than Xbone. For example, Diablo 3. It requires an always-online connection and cannot be loaned out, resold, or traded in.

Moral of the story is I would take the same approach. It's still all about the games for me.

If Sony announces the same policies, I'll probably be a Wii U/PC owner. I like Sony's exclusives, but not so much that I really couldn't do without a Sony consoles. If I'm going to deal with DRM and all that BS I might as well enjoy better graphics and mods.

Wouldn't it make sense to ask the other way around? I mean there are 10 people attacking Xbox for every 1 that defends is around here...and that is before this DRM, Television fiasco.

I personally wouldn't care either way. DRM isn't standing between me and my enjoyment of games.

I would probably be a little bit more critical as Sony doesn't have the cloud and digital infrastructure Microsoft has, nor do they have any experience managing an ecosystem that isn't tied to hardware.

As an avid Sony fan, if they were doing exactly the same as xbone then le crap. They lose my support.

Exactly my thought.  I'm not really tied to any console exclusives outside of Nintendo's.  Wii U/PC will be the way to go for me.

Can always tell a Sony gamer.... LMAO.. You must not know you have never owned a game. Open the instruction manual and read the back of it on ANY game going back to the Atari 2600. You are buying the rights to play the game. It's always been that way regardless of what you think you may know. Companies never have and never will sell software. They sale a license to use that software. If they sold you the actual software you could do anything you wanted with it, even rewrite it and resale it.lol

Anywho, OT. Sony fans would be okay with it. Just like they were made about used games til Sony announced the exact same thing be left up to 3rd parties. Sony fans have not only done a complete 180 on used games now, they are actually making excuses for Sony. as if 3rd parties were forcing this on Sony and they unlike Nintendo had no choice but to accept it.
History has proven that Sony fans are always against something til its on their console then its beyond anything offered elsewhere.
