And when less games are in circulation because less systems are sold because a portion of the population don't have the requirements to own them and gamestops profits drop because they have to give a share of the sales back to the publisher?

Thats when we laugh.

So why can't a normal game store be a participating retailer?

The fact that they are now having to have participating retailers says it all. Theyre wanting rid of certain stores selling used games and it will be the smaller stores. It wont be the mega corporations like GameStop. It will be the smaller Joe Bloggs stores. There will be a fee to pay to be a used game partner on Xbox One. Its the only real reason I can think for them having the "participating" thing. Will the smaller, indie stores be able to afford this fee?

Why does there even have to be participating retailers? Why are they alienating certain retailers?

What do they even mean by participating?

All they stated was "participating retailers".  The rest of that is negative supposition on your part.

The term "participating retailers" is not something MS made up.  Are you really not familiar with the term and have never heard it before?  It's pretty self explanatory.

C'mon, Carl.  You're better than this, man.

All Im saying is, whats the catch?

No shit, Sherlock.

Why does there have to be participating retailers for used games? Why cant it stay as it is? Why are indie stores currently out of the picture, not knowing anything, wanting clarification?

My views on these retailers have never changed. Some towns only have 1 or 2 of these dedicated game stores. They sell new and used... The difference is, they usually undercut the bigger stores like Game and push competition, along with offering better credit on used games.

These stores are good.

The mystery is, whats the catch? Who are these participating retailers? Why is there no clear message? Are the MCV rumors true? Will 3rd parties give retailers permission to sell used games?
