The majority of those will not have a problem with the online check thing...

Remind me how many students actually have contracts with their cellphones and how many just buy pre paid time. Most gamers operate on a budget and are "underprivileged" by default.

How many of those "99% of all companies" mentioned by TheJimbo1234 have a target audience with a high percentage of costumers without a steady or a low income ?

Do you really think that most students (the type that game and buy the Xbox brand and live in first world countries) don't have access to internet? Heck I know if you live on campus you pretty much automatically have internet. So again, most will not have a problem with this.

I can bet that students who own the 360 probably have among the highest rate of connectivity to the internet and XBL out of the whole 360 userbase. Why would they care if the next Xbox requires an internet connection once in 24 hours (and probably only for physical games) especially considering that internet is only ever becoming cheaper and more common.

Guess what else college students do a lot. They move. So they're buying a potential brick. And of course the article is not limited to the internet requirement, rentals and second hand is the other big issue. College students are so full of 60 dolla bills.

And at the end of the day MS is just a freeloader on my broadband because there is nothing in it for ME !

It's just a shift, and gaming is becoming more like everything else.

The new Xbox One is an all digital machine in reality. Yes, it's a shift from the game disk to your loginID. And just like itunes and the others, in a few years everyone will be used to it. A few years ago DJ's and friends had to carry everything to bring music around - it was heavy, bulky and would break. Now it's all digital and people love it.

It will be the same in a few years with gaming and people talk about how great it is not to have to carry around all those disk yet still have access to their entire library.

So that is my advantage, this is what I gain from the most restricting piece of hardware ever concieved ?

I am relieved from the unbelievable burden of carrying the disc around.

I agree, just like the PS3 targeted gamers with second jobs.

snapalisious !

the silliest thing about his argument is that MS could have implemented all the digital crap without the restrictions. I mean, damn it, Sony has done it with Vita freaking Nintendo has done it with Wii U and 3ds. All the "positive" things MS is doing has been done with half the the hassle.

And on a side note no, consoles arent catching up with everyone else, that is a lie. I can still buy Blurays, dvds, music cds, books, cars and sell all those on the 2nd hand market without restriction. Hell new Bluray movies come with a damn code so you can DL AND put it on cloud and guess what I can stll sell or give away that damn hard disk.

That is actually a good point. Physical books and cds and vinyl can survive -even on a smaller scale- along with their digital counterparts. But when it comes to gaming it's gonna be all or nothing. PSP Go had zero chance against the PSP for example. With the kindle you have the real advantage of having a library on the go, with all digital gaming there is no advantage for you whatsoever, which means the competition can crush you.

"After a month of vague corporate comments from Microsoft executives, we now know the Xbox One's game licensing policy was written from the ground up for companies. It's aggressively anti-consumer and anti-middle class, and it outright ignores underprivileged gamers. It's gross, despicable, greedy, pathetic, cowardly and out of touch with a growing global resentment for corporations."

I agree with this^

But thats just it, it DOESNT have to be that way. What was wrong with how Sony AND MS has been doing it for years. Given us the damn OPTION to go digital or not. Vita does it, WIi U and 3DS. Everyone is happy. PSPgo was stupid, but i guess MS feels it can do better. What really gets my goat is the sheer ignorance and just lack of thought of some people. I personally refrain from digital, not just cause i like owning the damn thing i bought, but i hate having to keep buying HDs memory sticks etc. Imagine just how LARGE these next gen games will be? Some now are already 5 freaking gigs, FIVE! but maybe it wont matter since we'll be buying less games anyway.

It's perfectly fine that it doesn't cater to you. And there will always be people that certain products don't cater to, and that's fine too.

What I was trying to say is the average first world country citizen will not have a problem with this. The average family, student, teenager, will not be effected nor will they care that much about it. Yes there will always be some that will not get the X1, whether they can't afford one, don't like the features, don't want to risk having a the possibility of an expensive blu-ray player, or just are not getting one because they want to stand up for something.

The true deciding factor for most of these people will not be the used game policy (especially since most trade to Gamestop anyways) or the checking online every 24 hours. It will be the game and features. And so far, on that front, it looks pretty promising.

There is a very big difference between the cost of a book or a song and the cost of a video game. Also an MMO is not a very good comparison considering it's an online game. I hate digital honestly. I take pride in my library of games, and it's now going to be a shelf full of useless liscensed discs. I absolutely will not support this. People complain that the PC has DRM features, and it's absolutely true. However there are tons of alternatives when it comes to my purchase, and Steam does significant sales discounts, something you will never see from Microsoft or Gamestop.

If the machine had come out as a digital only device, I don't think I would have complained much but they're taking a half assed physical transition into the digital space. The X1 is very anti consumer, and it's something I will not support.

Makes you think if it would have been better if they just went digital only, instead of this half assed approach. Its like they think a lot of people are stupid...maybe they do.

The true deciding factor for most ...

You are stuborn but so am I. Of course the used game policy will be an issue because not everyone has 60 bucks to spend at every game, that cuts down on rentals and second hand or even borrowing. It leaves you without any choices. And no matter how much you insist on it, if you don't pay for the connection yourself, you will be affected. Guess what lots of college students are doing right now, moving for a summer job at their home towns. Lots of parents control the wifi to keep their kids from being online all the time. Buying a console that can dynamically turn into a brick is the deciding factor.

This is just another anti-ms headbash...

I wonder if he uses Steam?

His blogs/articles are always online... What a greedy and despicable bastard!
