Forums - Gaming - Giant Bomb Asks Publishers About Xbox One DRM

Article is HERE.

Most of them are no comment or silent.

Quote:
Capcom:

“No comments to share at this time.”

Namco Bandai:

“Right now we’re focused on our title slate for consoles that are currently available to consumers. NAMCO BANDAI is looking forward to the launch of the new console generation and we will have more news to share regarding our next-gen plans later in the year.”

Sega:

“We are currently discussing within SEGA policies relating to the new generation of consoles. As soon as these have been agreed upon with all concerned partners we will make the information public.”

Ubisoft, EA, Activision, Square, Konami, and WB didn't reply.

Cue dramatic music

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

So Namco isn't making any next gen title currently until probably next year

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

The "no reply" and no comments are scary. MS won't be doing any of this if only EA and Activison agreed on DRM.

they all want it and if they would have the balls they would release a statement signed by all of them why they want it so much. at least ea, ubisoft and activision want it and i think the others aren't really against it.

lol, not unexpected.

Shouldn't they like it since it was done for their benefit? They probably want to remain silent on the issue because if they say they like it then they will become unpopular with gamers.

I really have a hard believing Activision is doing this(well supposedly) they gave no indication of it this gen with online passes like EA or Ubisoft

I also don't see S-E(or any other Eastern dev for that matter...well maybe capcom) acting on this, they know their largest(well atleast loyal) market is Japan and they won't have any of that specially single player games like FF/KH/SO and any other RPG centric game

All this pay walls will most likely going to affect NA only (and maybe Europe in the future). Which makes sense because it's the biggest market, so they want to make the most out of it (especially if they make partnerships with Gamestop).

Don't think SE or any other eastern publisher will touch DRM for the Japanese market.

Maybe im wrong but somebody stop me if i am. In the long run this really doesnt benefit ANYONE. Especially Japan devs. Lets be real there games dont do anywhere near COD numbers for the most part or sell consistently like the Fifas and Maddens. Now if a person cant sell their game I imagine that alot of people just wont buy the damn game in the first place. They'll just stick to what they know, COD, Madden, Fifa. the "safe" stuff.
...hell maybe thats what they really want. Just to make those blockbusters and not even bother doing IPs that might push the limit or try to be different as most wont risk trying those out.
