I actually just refuted your assertion that people are complaining for no reason other than to complain...which didn't require much intelligence, honestly.

So, you're coming on an INTERNET wesite, wanting to see if people won't have the INTERNET? Seems more like you can't take the criticism the Xbox One is getting and are reaching for straws. I also love that Xbox One supporter's comments just basically come down to insulting other's ability to get online or just telling them to get better internet/phones. So, basically #dealwithit. Nice way to be compassionate about everyone else's financial and location problems. |
No, it just proves what I was saying. I was just a little tired of people saying it is a comparison because it isnt. Everybody who posted in this thread was able to actively get on the internet and the amount of time it took people to comment in this thread was about the time that the X1 needed to check in.
And idk if im even getting an X1 yet so your also wrong on that part XD

Wouldn't you agree that it's a pain in the ass with no benefit to the consumer what so ever? |
Your question is best rephrased so that it addresses the underlying debate: "Wouldn't you agree that requiring an internet connection is a pain in the ass with no benefit to the consumer what so ever?" And my answer is no, I wouldn't, because having your game linked to your account means that you and your family members can access all your games and all your game data (save files and stuff you've unlocked in-game, that kind of thing) from any Xbox One in the world, regardless of whether or not you have the disc on hand, or even if the disc is broken and no longer works. Think about that: if for whatever reason your disc breaks (someone steps on it, or drops it, or uses it as a coaster, or whatever), you still have access to your game from any Xbox One. You don't need to go to the store and buy another copy. Those are REAL benefits.
Those benefits do come with some strings attached, though, as many people have already figured out, including the primary topic of this thread, which is the requirement to have an internet connection to prove that you still have the game, and aren't just passing it around to friends and letting everyone get a free copy of the game attached to their account. Is that a suitable tradeoff? Everyone will have a different answer for that. For me, it is. For most people who post on the internet, it seems that it is not, and I am not going to tell people that they don't have the right to make that decision. Everyone has their own gaming habits and their own internet connectivity situations, and for some people this simply is not going to be a viable console.
Going back specifically to phones, if an internet connection is going to be required, then there is no question that it is better to give the consumer more options on how to get that internet to their console. I'd rather have the option to use a smartphone if necessary, than only have the option to use wired/wifi.

If you want to buy it then that's ok with me. Do you
But please stop telling us that the required internet connection is because of "Cloud Computing". That's just a lie lol. It's a check via interwebz once every 24 hours because of DRM. It's so you can't play a game loaned to you buy a friend. Not for the cloud. Just tell the truth and let it be what it is

Cmon dude... You are missing the point completely... It's not a constant steady connection... It's the issue of having a $500 device that becomes a brick if I did not connect to the Internet yesterday and my Internet is out for what ever reason.... |
Ah. but you see, it doesn't become a brick. You can still watch TV and movies on it. Heh.
In all seriousness, though, that's only an issue if there's any chance that you're gonna lose your connection for 24 hours straight( or simply at a bad time). For me, there's basically no chance of that, so I'm good. It may be a slight inconvenience if I have to connect the XBOne to a Mi-fi or smartphone at any point in time, but besides that, I'm not bothered by it, and many others wont be as well. If that's an issue for you, then you can take your money to Sony or Nintendo as M$ apparently didn't make this console for you. It's not the end of the world.

Whoa now spin master. I never said that Internet is the devil. I just said that it should not be forced on me when I can't connect... Or hell if I'm being froggy and don't want to connect, I don't know why that would happen but I want that option :P
Edit: also ill add this from a different argument: "Cmon dude... You are missing the point completely... It's not a constant steady connection... It's the issue of having a $500 device that becomes a brick if I did not connect to the Internet yesterday and my Internet is out for what ever reason...."

You really think too highly of yourself. You know this VGC "home" feature called Forum Hot Topics? Yeah... I don't need to follow you around to see those apologetics filled threads of yours.

If you don't think you made a comparison in the OP, I suggest you check the dictionary. And quite honestly, I think you do have your mind made up, already. Otherwise, you wouldn't be defending such a ridiculous policy.
