Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One details: connecting online, licensing, Kinect privacy

I really don't want to pile on the Microsoft fans here. As a Vita and Wii U owner, I know how frustrating all the doom and gloom can be.

But there's no way to spin this news into a positive. At best it's an inconvenience. At worst it's a huge slap to the face of consumers, property rights, and the millions of people who don't have a steady internet connection, or no internet connection at all.

Quick question to those who are reading this and actually want to discuss and not just bitch and moan...

What defines a family member? Did Microsoft specify what they define a family member and what is a friend?

I ask because you can apparently share the game once with a "friend" but 10 times with "family members".

Look, buddy. I can share my 360 games with "friends" and "family members" as long as I want, as much as I want. I don't have "limit caps" for sharing my games. Do you understand where I'm going?

you can give two of your brothers the same game on 360 and still play it at your home when both have one half of the disc?

One thing about leaving up to the publisher that people seem to be over looking is that Sony said the same thing.

And I highly doubt a multi plat game will allow used one on system and not the other

But its not good for teh gamign indsutriesd if these people rely on borrowing and play tthje game and finish sp capaigns and then play the multiplayer without havign to spend a single dime RIGHT? 10 cpas for family members is  abit small but i guessing its based on per household and they easily increase it with a patch. People comp, aining ae just too greedy and want everythign to be free

"You’ll be able to give your games to friends. However, you can only give them to people who have been on your Xbox LIVE friends list for at least 30 days, and the game can only be given once."

You cannont share your games with a friend. The game can be given to a friend once. Meaning, he will own the game and you can no longer play it and he cannot give it to anyone else.

As for the family member issuse. We don't know yet, but over at gaf people were saying only 2 family members at a time can play the game. Not all 10.

Hope this helps .

You won't be able to play the same game you gave to a family/friend. Sorry you're disillusioned if you think that is going to happen.

What I don't understand is this family sharing thing, does my entire family have to be using the same gamertag for it to work?

No. You have to give your family members permission in the parental controls. MS doesn't tell me what to do or how to play my game. If I buy a game and can hold it in my hand do not tell me where it can be used. As long as I dont replicate it and sell it STFU.

But lending it to people who won't spend a dime on gmaes which developers spent put their sweat and tears is a crime. They need to make a living just liek we do so each time a friend or anyone that borrows a game and finishes the sp campaign and then plays multiplayer for free hurts them. Just look how many good devleopers studio shut down because they didn't sell anough cOpies of teh game? . The used market and secondhand market in my opinion should be closed down for good a swe need to support gaming develoeprs if we wanat to game 50 years down the track. However i do beleive that if they go down this road ,, then shoould reduce teh price of the game a bit to make it more enticing to buy.

Dude...I am not advocating piracy or anything. The right of ownership of a game which separates console gaming from PC gaming majorly is that you have the right to do as you please with your one copy of your game whether it be lending it out, collecting or reselling as long as you do not break the contract of recreating the product and selling it at a profit. There is nothing wrong with lending out a product. Gamestop will definitely treat Wii U and PS4 gamers better than Xbox One ownersn now that the Azure network has been put into place. They'll put on a straight face and say everything is ok, but once their bottom line starts dropping watch how much they lower your credit and increase prices on games. At this point you might as well just buy an Xbox One game new every time. Theres no way the price of anything is going to be reduced digital or not if the physical copies are still in demand. If they do they will have to have the hardware with HDD space.

LOL good one. I don't see the fuss is all about. What tehy mentiones iis very fair and wouldn't suprise if Sony follows suit as online passes have bene eradicated.  Peopel thses days want to rely on friends and workers to borrow games so they can save money for other stuff without realising teh when tehy do that thats a loss in slae to the company taht makes good games

there is a way to "spin it"

my console is always online with or without the need for it and i don't rent games. so, nothing of that interests me but now, my brothers who live hundreds of kilometers away can buy an xbox for themselves or their kids and play all the games i bought. and we can play online against each other with only one bought copy.

sounds like a great possibility for me or not?

i read kinda quickly because i gotta get going but what i got out of this was:

all the rumors and fears: confirmed.

am i wrong?
