Forums - Sony - Reasons to be excited by Sony Platforms!!!!

Sony has struggled a lot the last few years. Financial troubles have marred the company's image completely. Yet, when it comes to the gaming world, Sony is doing great things.

We all knew next gen consoles were around the corner. How? Because 2/3 big companies all but halted game production on their current platforms. But not Sony. Fresh releases, for new and old IPs have come and are on the way for PS3. We are less than a week away from the release of The Last of US, a game that is already catching some serious buzz as the 7th Gen's Magnum Opus.

Most consoles stop releasing new IPs at the half way mark because it makes the most business sense. Sony has seemingly thrown that out the window, so they have revealed several new IPs all slated to release this year. Beyond:Two Souls, Puppeteer, NiNoKuni,Until Dawn, etc. This might not turn out to be a great money making strategy but at least gamers win! Let us not forget that the strongest racing franchise in existance is also debuting another entry this year with Gran Turismo 6. God of War:Acension, Tales of Xillia, and quite a few other exclusive titles are sprinkled throughout the year.

Then came the news of PS4 by year's end. The information revealed proved to be very promising for the console.

PS4 Features~

  • More robust media services that we have become accustomed to like Netflix,Hulu,Amazon etc.
  • Ability to start playing any game before it even finishes downloading.
  • Remote Play with almost any PS4 title on Vita.
  • Ability to Share the last few minutes of your gameplay in video form across multiple services. Video automatically recorded and retrievable with the ease of a button press.
  • New Controller design:L2/R2 buttons are more trigger like, Touch Pad in center of controller, Glowing Sensor bar on front that designates player # by which color they are, also can be used for spacial recognition support via PS4 Eye.
  • Be able to access many of the Apps and services similtaneously:Music,Video,Facebook, Internet, Games etc.
  • Able to view friend's gaming sessions as well as offer assistance at different gameplay moments if allowed.
  • Being able to demo virtually every game without even downloading it, via Gakai Cloud.

The Games~

Oh the games. So many exciting new Titles to come when this console Launches. Many of the game's revealed are slated for Launch window which should get many super Excited for the system.

-Killzone:Shadow Fall

-Infamous: Second Son

-Knack

-Drive Club

-Deep Down

-Destiny, The Witness, Watch Dogs,DC Universe Online, Planetside 2, Warframe all coming to PS4 with exclusive bits in one way or another.

-A Final Fantasy Title to be revealed at Sony's booth; heavily rumored to be exclusive and most likely FF Versus XIII

-Sony Santa Monica Revealing a new Title at E3.

-Naughty Dog, even with the hotly anticipated TLOU coming just a day after Sony's Conference, ND still has another team toiling away most likely making a killer title for PS4. Could it be Uncharted 4?

-A Plethera of other big 3rd Party titles coming. MGSV, Call of Duty:Ghost, Battlefield, The Evil Within, etc.

The Release~

Sony promises that the PS4 will have the best launch line up yet for their given platforms. Anyone who was paying attention to Vita at launch knows that it had around 20 games launch day

The Best for Vita has yet to come~

Vita has accumilated a lot of undeserved hate the past year for a supposed "Lack of games". There has been a steady flow of new and exciting retail and indie titles streaming to the portable for anyone willing to look. Gauacamelee came early this year and proved to be a eye strikely inventive game. We also got Soul Sacrifice that many have already lost countless hours into. Later this year we have Killzone:Mercenaries, TearAway, Muramasa, Dragon's Crown, Ys:Celesta, Valhalla Knights, Toukiden, Rainbow Moon, The Walking Dead Game, etc. The first game to be revealed for 2014 was shown just a week ago, Freedom Wars.

Many more are just yet to be revealed, as Sony has stated over 40 titles to be shown off at E3, covering PS3/PS4/PS Vita.

Prepared for the Future~

E3 is bound to have a few more exclusive titles in the wing for PS4 and Vita to be shown. Sony is all about the games this time around and are sure not to dissappoint.

Sony has formed multiple teams with all their 1st/2nd Party to have them pumping out gaming goodness on a regular basis. We know  SSM has something to show. Geurilla Games now has 3 teams, one is on KZ:SF, the other on KZ:Mercs, the last is a mystery. It is rumored to be a Scifi RPG title but who knows. Naughty Dog also has two teams. One is wrapping up TLOU release, the other was last seen working on UC3 almost 2 years ago. Sony Japan has quite a few teams such as Team ICO and their aloof game. Possible The Last Guardian is now being developed as a PS4 title. Quantic Dreams has also stated they are working on PS4 games as well. The future is very bright.

Its a great time to be a Sony Fan

Pretty thread.

4 ≈ One

I never have to worry about Sony. Seeing a lack of games from them on their primary console would be reason to be alarmed. Perhaps this time a more balanced and watchful approach would increase the quality of their games.

Honestly, I have few reasons to go beyond the PS ecosystem this year for gaming. Between the PS3, PS4 and PSV I am mostly covered. The only handful of exceptions are Nintendo related, of course. ;o

I think it was a good idea to release the last of us on ps3. It will make the most money there, and they need that. Plus when the sequel comes out on ps4 people will be forced to buy the ps4.

Well I am still under the impression that this year is a bit overkill for games, many are just destined to fail because of it. NiNoKuni at least did surprisingly well because it came out a lot earlier than everything else(which always crams the holidays). I fear for Beyond and Puppeteer. Its not like they wont be AAA quality, but might very well get overshadowed by new consoles AND huge AAA 3rd Party Games.

Ditto my man. Although I am contemplating a 3DS in my future. Pokemon XY, Bravely Default might prove to much for me to resist :P lol

That's exactly why I'm getting a 3DS man. xD I'll probably pick up older titles like Oot and Fire Emblem as well, but the Vita will be my primary handheld machine. The Wii U won't interest me until Smash Bros. U and Zelda drop.

I expect great things from the PS systems this year, but I do hope in future Sony releases them in a steady stream (and with proper marketing).
