Forums - Microsoft - Steve Ballmer Treks To Hollywood To Tout Xbox One To Moguls And Agents

hmm, well I suppose the Xbox One will try to convince people to watch TV live and this is a huge problem for TV networks right now in the states, since more and more people are watching their favorite TV shows online, or through their DVR and thus advertisers are paying less for ad spots during TV shows. Also advertisers would pay a HUGE amount of money to get to the male 18-34 audience since that is the demographic that watches the least TV (excluding sports).

Watching TV broadcast are on the decline and Xbox One will only help cable providers and studios invigorate their offerings. Cable providers and studios will be wise to work with MS to help them gain more audience. More audience equals more advertisment money. Xbox One wins, Television as a media wins.

This is what is most confusing.  Live TV seems to be going away - I would rather stream everything if I could.   Fortunately, the X1 will do both, and do them well, at least from a verbal (speech recognition) convenience.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I think they might be trying to get some Xbox shows on some TV channels. Like try to get a channel to pick up Halo. That along with getting the tv studios to add original content with an Xbox One snap view app or overlay.

Exactly! Well if the PS4 offers live tv then TV networks and providers would be wise to work with both Sony and Microsoft because the current TV ratings system is really hurting TV networks, especially the major networks (CBS, ABC, NBC, and Fox) since they have bigger costs in developing new shows.

I guess Xbox will only win depending on its sales. If they are weak then networks won't see an advantage of working with MS.

Hmmm, interesting idea.  I was thinking it was more to get cable's support.  They are big powerful lobby in the USA.

"... channel to pick up Halo."

Oh gosh, I hope not.  If they dumb down Halo for the masses, rather than keeping it true to what it is, it will ruin it.  That was my fear when I saw Spielberg would be involved.

Halo: Goonies will bring tears to my eyes.
