Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is also great. Simple yet fun gaming mechanics and great detailed level design. Also comes with a solid sense of humor.

And of course, Animal Crossing is releasing soon. It will destroy all of our (non virtual) social lives.

Hmm, it depends on why you didn't like the one on the GC.  

I was at that age when everything needed to be action packed and it just felt boring to me at the time. That was 10 years ago so I might enjoy it now

I see, well there are a few Animal Crossing: New Leaf gameplay videos floating around.  You can watch a little bit of them (GameXplain has 21 10 min videos so far) and decide what you feel about the game.

edit: Oh, and reviews for Animal Crossing: New Leaf are just coming in.

LM2, cant go wrong. Better than the original

DKCR its good, i would say its better than the Wii one for the simple fact you dont have to do any stupid, silly and godawful motion controls. Just straight platforming.

KH. I would skip it. Its really for the fans at this point, there is a synopsis, but its done poorly and IMHO the story itself is poor whether you played the others or not. Its a good KH, but not the best.

DKCR is my favourite 2D platformer - so if you like the genre then pick that



     
Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

I can NOT believe that no one mentioned Kid Icarus yet!

Kid Icarus is one of my favorite game of all time, by far my favorite on 3DS (FE is second on the list). Luigi's Mansion is great, but you will not play it nearly as much as KI. I have over 100hours of gameplay on KI and probably around 15hours on Luigi's Mansion. Both are great but KI has wayyyyy more collectibles.

Also Animal Crossing soon if you are into that kind of game, I know I am! hehe

I bought Kid Icarus when it first came out, great game!!!! I have a 3 way tie for best 3DS game so far, Kid Icarus, Resident Evil Revelations and Fire Emblem, with Mario 3D Land close behind.

3DS has a shot at overtaking GBA for the throne of favorite handheld console.

I had it but sold it, ive never been able to get into handheld Mario Karts. The best part of the series for me is local multiplayer with a bunch of friends so I prefer the console versions way more.
