In just three days the lovely folk over on Neogaf will initiate Phase 2 of their campaign against DRM. They've opened up a brand new sister site focusing on the #XboxOneNoDRM campaign running alongside their #PS4NoDRM site.
The idea is to go all Guy Fawkes (without the explosions) on DRM culture beginning June 5th. The push is being led by Pete Dodds, a Neogaf native and the man organizing all this consumer rebellion against the Xbox One's policies that many have deemed anti-consumer as well as preemptively making sure the PS4 won't have any of it either. There has been a small victory insofar that the PS4 will not feature the same online dependent DRM as the Xbox One.
The movement originally targeted Sony and the PlayStation 4, getting the attention of the console maker and hoping to get the execs to back down from any intrusive or anti-consumer policies that would prevent gamers from simply enjoying their pastime without having to be worried about signing in here, registering there, paying this or signing off on that. The response was overwhelming and garnered mainstream attention, even from CNN. Nice going guys.
Microsoft has also made it known that they are listening, too (without having to use Kinect) and that they will address consumer concerns soon.
The movement's next phase will continue to target any and all policies that don't line up with gamers being able to simply game the way they always have. If you're keen on joining in on the movement but you don't want to get up from your gaming chair, don't worry...we got you covered. Just click on the Official No DRM Page Link for more information or tweet at publishers, Sony and Microsoft executives with the #PS4NoDRM and #XboxOneNoDRMhashtags.
