Am I considered too young to be able to have an opinion on the matter?

I'm sure that when I post this you'll say yes:
Paper Mario: Sticker Star wasn't a bad game and didn't damage the Paper Mario series. It was different, and maybe many of you didn't like that, but it wasn't bad. Changes can hurt us, I feel you... I feel you.

And...Super Paper Mario?

Was bad. Was even more different.

Sorry. I read your original message before editing. And so, my answer goes for what you wrote first =P

"Then it's obviously Sticker Star couldn't do it any worse, but change things".

Different? It's just an extremely stripped down and nerfed TTYD, to the point where there was little point in playing it. Certainly not worth paying $40 for.

Then don't pay 40$ for it. Buy it used, you know...

Isn't he like 40 years old in real life?

That would make Rol way too old to even know what the internet is.

I've got some bad news for you...

hhmmmmmm

I love both series, but Super Paper Mario left a bad taste in my mouth, especially since TTYD is one of my favorite games of all time. Haven't played Stickers Stars yet, but I keep hearing that it's not really all that great. I love all 3 M&L games, with Partners in Time being the weakest one (but still great).

But for me TTYD tops both the first and the third M&L games, so I like Paper Mario more. Althogh that might change with Dream Team.

That was supposed to be taken as a joke... SPM wasn't bad either, it just wasn't good. There, that makes perfect sense.

I think the main thing that people don't seem to get is that maybe, just maybe, Nintendo wanted to take the Paper Mario series in a different direction. And that's a mission they obviously succeded in. Maybe this is the samething that happened to Pokemon; early adopters of the series just can't understand why the series had to change, whilst the "newer" adopters enjoy the change.

It is a shame indeed.

I looooooved 999, but haven't been able to find a copy of this game. Is it as good?

Yeah, the story + handheld excuse is weak.

Virtues Last Reward leaves the door wide open for a sequel, so it's kinda disappointing in that regards. At least the sequel has already been confirmed to be in the works. Other than that, the quality of the story is similarly good as in 999, so I don't think a fan of the first Zero Escape can be let down by the second game.

When it comes to gameplay, there's more game this time around and additional files to unlock by completing the puzzles without falling back on the easy difficulty setting. There's also a convenient flow chart for the story that allows you to access any branching point quickly, so you don't have to start from the beginning of the game everytime you want to see another branch and different ending. It also means that puzzle rooms that have been completed once never need to be played again. This is a very welcome feature and makes VLR easily the better game out of the two Zero Escape titles. But since they are visual novels, the quality of the story is still the most important factor, so it's understandable if some people still prefer 999.

Very good to hear. Some people say 'I will get this eventually' and never do, but I WILL have this game eventually.

Not sure about that success. Keeping Paper Mario as the simple, straightforward RPG with enough depth could have led to better sales and certainly a more solid fanbase for future titles.

Also, Pokémon changed? That has to be a joke.

Sad thing is they'll probably look at the sales and think "people love this, let's continue". I may not like it personally, but the series has increased in sales with SPM, and even more with PM:SS.

I never said it was a success sales-wise (or overall), just that they succeded in changing it.

Also, you must not have played the recent Pokemon games. Because it's changed, and people obviously don't like it.

Mario and Luigi, but I've always preferred that series.

It has. This is a new era.
