Forums - Gaming - Your E3 2013 realistic dream lineup

We know partial lineups from most of the major companies, now. We have a decent idea what their financial positions and overall tendencies are. We can be pretty confident that there won't be sudden announcement of buyouts of entire companies. So, given the obvious restrictions for "realism", what is your dream E3 lineup - either for your favourite company, or for your favourite platform, or even for the entire show, if you're so inclined.

I'm going to focus on my dream Wii U lineup, with focus on first-party and Nintendo collaborations, but with some notable third-party titles also listed.

Wii U

Let's start with the obvious:

Mario 3D
Mario Kart
Wind Waker HD
Wii Fit U
Bayonetta 2
Yarn Yoshi
Super Smash Bros U

Other first-party titles:

Pokemon Snap U (from HAL Laboratories, for release 2013)
Pokemon Orre U (from Genius Sonority, for release mid-2014)
Earthbound U (from Creatures, Inc, for release early 2014)
Raven Blade (from Retro Studios, for release late 2014)
Wave Race U (from Monster Games, for release mid 2014)
Wii Sports U (from Nintendo EAD, for release late 2013)
Wii Music U (eShop free download, includes all of original Wii Music's content, plus new games/modes and more songs, including (paid) DLC)
Endless Ocean U (from Arika, for release early 2014)
Majora's Mask HD (for release holiday 2014, with Zelda U for release holiday 2015)

Collaborations:

F-Zero U (from Sumo Digital, for release mid 2014)
Metroid Ultimate (from Platinum Games, early announcement, planned release in 2015)
Kid Icarus x Golden Axe (from Treasure, for release late 2014)
Beyond Good & Evil 2 (from Ubisoft, Nintendo-funded, for release late 2014)
System Shock 3 (from Take Two/Irrational Games, Nintendo-funded, for release in 2015)
Chrono U (from Square Enix, Nintendo-funded, for release in 2014)
Starcraft: Ghost (from Activision-Blizzard, Nintendo-funded, for release in 2015)

Third-party titles of note (not necessarily exclusive, all currently unannounced for Wii U):

Kingdom Hearts 3
GTA V
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles U
Tekken 7
Tales of Unity
Call of Duty: Ghosts
new Metal Gear title (not MGS or MGR)

A few notes:

I see Pokemon Orre U as being a new title set in the same region as Colosseum and XD, but some time in the future - the region has been undergoing a change, and there's much less desert, and a lot more by way of wild pokemon. The region is in the process of setting up its Pokemon League over the course of the game, and Shadow pokemon, while possibly present, are much less of an emphasis.

Raven Blade is that long-cancelled Retro RPG that they were working on before Metroid Prime. I see Nintendo giving them the chance to take what they've learned over time, and recreate the game as their own new IP.

Metroid Ultimate comes from a bit of inspiration I had after realising that there are some similarities between Bayonetta and Samus. With Retro getting to work on a new IP, Nintendo needs a studio to make a new Metroid title, and Platinum is, in my opinion, a perfect choice, with Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101 both coming to completion over the next few months. Note that I'm not suggesting that they should be permitted to go "sexualised" with Samus.

The four collaboration games that don't involve first-party titles are all franchises that are popularly demanded by gamers but never seem to be made. Given rumours of Michel Ancel leaving Ubisoft, I see Nintendo providing some funding towards Ancel setting up his own studio (Nintendo might own, say, 30%), and arranging a deal with Ubisoft that sees Ancel's studio getting to make BG&E2 with Nintendo funding and Ubisoft, as IP owner, getting a cut of sales.

F-Zero U, I give to Sumo Digital, makers of the Sonic & Sega Racing games - they seem the most appropriate choice, and having finished their most recent Sonic&Sega title relatively recently, they've got a great chance to work on a new racing game with a bit of a difference.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Wii U:
-3D Mario platformer

Persona 5
The Last Guardian
MGS V
Super Smash Bros. 4
Whatever Retro is working on
Final Fantasy 15
Earthbound U (?)

Fallout 4

Starfox by Retro Studios with no on-foot crap. That alone would make E3 for me.

People asking for a new Earthbound game barely a month after the creator of the series said it's not happening does not strike me as particularly "realistic."
