Neither would I. It seems to close to halo 4 and there have also been rumors of a Halo 2 HD for a while now.

Microsoft is moving towards a yearly release model (they don't seem to get that what works for third parties isn't necessarily best for first parties). We've seen a new Halo for the last four years I think, so I'd be kind of surprised if we didn't see a new game at E3.

I know, everyone seems to like a trilogy format though for story-telling. Gears, Mass Effect, Uncharted, Even CoD MW!!
I suppose they decided against announcing the trilogy though! LOL!

1- Tell me a Halo game that wasn't done properly. 2- There is no game that keeps on coming fresh like Halo every iteration for short periods of time(2-3). No other game has more people camping outside for midnight release. You Sony fans talk like your company doesn't milk their cows. Look at this skinny cow I brought from Somalia:
Since 2005 except 06 Sony been draining this poor cow non-stop. And Halo is being milked? 3- I'm tired of this fallacy. People want good games, new experiences do no mean better experiences. Lets say Sony varies their 1st party releases better, but how is the reception of the games from you guys? POOR,POOR,POOR. The only game to succeed in today's market is Uncharted. The rest go quickly under the radar after release. |
Four of those games are bundles and not actually new games, so it's not really "milking" the franchise in the long run so more of it as pushing the pre-existing games and offering them at lower pricer-points. Two of those games are mobile games, and four main games in an eight year time span I admit is alot, but honestly Halo comes out every year.
What? Gran Turismo goes under the radar after release? Little Big Planet has nice legs, and so does God Of War. Other than Halo, Gears, and Forza you can say the same thing about Microsoft, so I don't see how you could defend one company who has less IP's with legs than the other, while saying the other has less IPs with legs, and that's simply not true. That's fact, not opinion.
Also you're really being one dimensional, do you know that alot of games are popular outside of the US? For instance, One Piece Pirate Warriors, another Playstation Exclusive is very popular in Japan and has nice legs, and since when did sales = quality in the first place? Sales doesn't equate to quality, mass appeal does, there's a ton of extremely polished and amazing games that don't sell much because the lack of mass appeal, doesn't mean they aren't better than "popular" games.
Anyways, I'd rather see 343 take on a new IP rather than making a new Halo. Also I'm confused as to why Microsoft want to make the "next" Halo when Halo still sells very well and now comes out yearly, seems kinda dissapointing when you consider that they're going for yet another huge budgeted FPS exclusive.

It would have been nice if they didn't announce a trilogy. That way we could have played Halo 4 not knowing it ends in a cliffhanger...

Yeah, but we don't want Halo to get stale like COD has become.

There will be no Halo 5 this year or next year. 343i plan to make the Reclaimer trilogy to last 10 years,
http://haloreclaimerhub.wordpress.com/2012/05/16/343-industries-halo-reclaimer-trilogy-will-last-10-years/
It way to soon
As for the yearly thing
There has been a Halo game since 2009 but that's not because MS wants a yearly franchise heck they said it themselves they don't want to annualized halo.
http://www.vg247.com/2011/06/14/spencer-ms-not-looking-to-turn-halo-into-annualised-franchise/
It just how things went for the past 4 years that made it like that.
2009
Halo wars was made by ensemble studios and was announced the same year Halo 3 was announced. 3 years needed to make the game.
2010
Halo Reach was Bungies final Halo game and went into development when Halo 3 was released. 3 years of development needed.
2011
Halo CEA was made not actually made by 343i. They gave the project to Saber interactive, who did not had to do much to the game other than update visuals. Not to mention it was the 10 year anniversary and fans were asking for it, it was only logical.
2012
Halo 4 got released after 3 years in development.
As you can see in the past 4 years 4 different studios were involved in Halo. Now there is only one, so think about this logically. It took all these games other than the remake 3 years to make, plus each one was made by a different studio. Now there is only one studio left and they take three years to make a game, there is no way we can get a Halo every year anymore.
Do not expect Halo 5 till 2015 or later, but i do believe there will be a Halo 2 remake next year since 2014 will be ten years after halo 2 release.
