Yeah but what does that mean for third party games? If EA is going anti-used route I can still see them pulling punches with the PS4, or other third parties.

But it looks like first party titles won't require internet at all for sure. They are saying it can be enjoyed WITHOUT Internet connection, but that doesn't necessarily mean EA will be cool with that with *THEIR* games.

I don't care either way but this is great for the consumer so... good for them.

That exclusive game mode for Fifa, Ultimate team that Xbone is getting is likely a gesture of thanks of EA to M$ for enforcing DRM while Sony didn't. Although at first it may not seem much, but Ultimate team is HUGE over here in Europe. I am not a massive Fifa fan but I played some and the way everyone hypes up Ultimate team, I was really surprised that EA actually made that mode exclusive to the Xbone when Fifa sells more on Playstation because that is the more popular console in Europe. EA are definitely trying to push some Xbones out in Europe with that decision and I don't think M$ simply paid for the content. But only time will tell.

Ok. But I mean other parties will probably still be against this. But overall if they still want to sell games they'll put them out regardless.

Again, good news for the consumer. People who will just buy the PS4 over the XBox One just because of the anti-used and mostly always online will score big.

It's just that simple.

will change exactly 0 for me because i really don't want to use those consoles like 10 years or more ago.

What does that mean?

that i don't want to use a console like the playstation 4 as i used my dreamcast, without connection to the internet.

Err.. but isn't it nice to have the option to play on something which doesn't require an internet connection?

Also, I was playing Phantasy Star online and Quake 3 on Dreamcast back in the day so.. it did have online play (albeit a rather slow and crappy one) oO

i know but i didn't with my dreamcast and the console was not really build around this. i played pso at a friends house on his dreamcast but not at home...

but nowadays or next gen, a console without interent connection will look really sad.

I'm so happy to read this.

you can use connected to the internet or if your internet have some problem and you have no sinal you can play it offline.

well, i never had more than a few minutes problems with my internet. i was assuming if ps4 would need a connection than only something like the xbox one which would be every 24 hours for a fast verification.

if it would be 24/7 i would also have a problem with it because i don't have that^^

A console with a required internet connection will suck for those who have a crappy internet or don't have one at all, thus making the console sell like crap in many countries and not making any money for the company.

On the PS4 you have the option to be always online, so you can't really complain.

yes it's better if a console doesn't need it at all but it would change nothing for me so i am not super excited now just because ps4 doesn't need that because i will use my ps4 with internet.

that's why i said it will change 0 for me. i didn't speak about other people.

I don't see 3rd parties alienating almost half their entire userbase just to get a little bit of money from used games sales compared to the overall scheme of things. The publishers also need to sell their games and they are already in tough times breaking even. They can't afford to not put their game on PS4 because 3rd party exclusives for major companies are almost non-existent these days. At best its just timed DLC or stuff like that.
