Forums - General - Mr Khan's latest misadventure in the working world (not a rant, but drama)

"There was a further confrontation with Ms. ______ the following Friday, in full witness of Mr. _____ and Mr. _____, in which I remained perfectly calm and told her that if she had a problem with me, she could take it up with Mr. ______."

A few hours of sex later...

Lol, WTH.

eek what a horrible lady. I'm curious now why she hates your guts so much for seemingly no reason.

and OMG that letter is soo well written! My papers look like a 5-year-old scribbled them with a crayon next to that letter x__x

She had 30 years and 120 pounds on me, both enough to disqualify her.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm curious what race this lady is. Not trying to be racist but just curious. Regardless of race this woman sounds like a complete bitch. I hardly have any problems with coworkers at my jobs. I do have a problem with being laid off though. I need to get out of the manufacturing industry and into wildlife field that actually uses my degree.

White. That place was almost exclusively white, like three black people i can remember there (out of hundreds), none of anything else

Despite the image i may cultivate around here, i'm generally polite, deferential, and amiable, and this lady was literally the only person at that place that i actively disliked.

The lesson here is clearly to just let the bullies have their way: if management sees fit to do something, fine, if not, don't push it, just look for another job.

Really nice letter, wrong country/state to live in. As I understand it they can dismiss you for no reason at all, and to-keep-Ms.-_____-happy may well be a good reason in their minds since you were quite new.

However there is one thing you didthat I'd like to point out for your future

I assumed that any available seat was free
I assumed would be briefer than it was
I assumed that it was understood that I bore no fault

Always get organisational things in writing. Never assume, check and record. Don't trust anyone's intentions. If you had more of a paper trail instead of he said, she said then the letter would be stronger still. This lesson is one I've learnt from my time at university, I kept assuming people would follow procedures, or they would do what I'd asked them to do, and it screwed me over tens of times.

I am in the minority (being white in a non management position) at my factory job. Operators are mainly Asians, Hispanics, and black at my job. Even though the job is stressful (most operator jobs require one to stand/move around 8 or more hours and stress put on by management) almost everyone is friendly towards me at my job. This mainly looks to me as someone who believes they are better than you merely because they worked there longer. Usually most companies will side with employees that have been there longer (unless they are completely wrong) and toss contract, temps, and trainees under the bus. I've been contract employee (not fully hired on by company but work for them through a contract company so they can easily lay off) in manufacturing industry for too long. I also live in a "right to work" state (Texas) which is really just a bs phrase that means right to not form unions or right to fire. Sure unions have their downside but without them we wouldn't have workers comp, 40 hour work week, overtime pay, safer working conditions, etc. So unions might not be viewed in favorable light these days but they did accomplish a lot back in the day. I know what it is like to be shitted on. Sorry this happened to you but after being terminated for that I wouldn't ever want to work for that company again.
