Forums - Microsoft - EA's Online Passes free on Xbox Live.

It seems that EA wasn't just thinking about the Xbox One when it mentioned dropping the ever-so-popular Online Pass system that punishes consumers for purchasing a game used by adding an extra fee. On Xbox Live (sorry PS3 owners!) many of the Online Passes have been made completely free, as this NeoGAF thread details.

How long they'll remain free is currently unknown. Maybe this is a goof on their part, or maybe EA is shifting all of their focus and servers to the Xbox One, meaning that these games may not even have an online mode for much longer. Regardless, if you own or plan to own any of these games used, now might be a good time to snatch up this oh-so-generous deal.

How nice of you, EA.

Enjoy.

Yeah, they just decided to eliminate it all together for their older games too.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Looks like Xbone will be the only console to support those DRMs after all. EA and MS were never in such close relationship ever before.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

I don't know if it means that and PSN is also receiving the same.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet.

Of course, joking, joking.

I thought if EA does this only for XBL + EA  unprecedented partnership with MS, biggest support on xbone reveal with historically better relations with Sony would give us proof for logical assumption that EA supports MS so much because they are the only ones to adopt the heavy DRM policies.

If they do the same on PSN, that means that one point from that list goes to dumbster. And I know nothing to jump to any conlusions yet.

Edit. To be honest I hope and even believe that Sony won't adopt as much or as anti-consumer DRMs as those shown by MS, they probably have to adress the second hand market issue, given how many studios bankrupted this gen, but not like that.

They will probably shut the servers down soon lol.

MS doing so much for EA and all they get is a small bit of Fifa DLC......

lol EA you can do better then that
