Forums - Gaming - The 99.99 price mark.............

This gen has been very expensive. PS3 and Xbox in general have retained their values quite well. The $100 - $120 price point will be perfect.

If Sony announces a price cut no way is the 360 gonna outsell it, especially with big exclusives coming like The last of us and GT6 including other exclusives like Beyond. The 360 well... has nothing to look forward to in the exclusive department.

The ps2 sold years without any important releases...

That's a whole other story, the ps2 was a monster. I'm talking about in terms of the ps3 and 360 selling with a price cut, the 360 won't pass it because of the PS3 getting some good exclusives while already having a good lead in outselling it every week. I didn't say anything about the 360 selling bad.

There will be a 99 euro/dollar 360 I'm sure. And if the price of the ps3 stays the same it has a slight chance to start outselling it again. Won't grow in the US anymore but there is opportunity in Europe.

In absolute numbers 360 is also a beast ;) It will surpass 80 million this year easily. And I already said that 360 wouldn't pass ps3 but who cares? Both sell extremely good and the "who is on what place" doesn't tell a lot. Sales are still very close together while $ony now has the lead which is totally ok to almost everyone I think.

It's possible, but I'm not sure it's probably.

Why? The Wii.

$99 dollar sales are late adopters/poorer people who like videogames or what videogame systems for their kids but don't want to pay much.

When the Wii expanded the market, a lot of that early expansion was probably actually from this demographic, as shown by it's recent problems selling.

Parents who were going to get their kids systems anyway, but they themselves were interested in the Wii so willing to fork out extra. Or just people who weren't enthusiasts but end of the generation gamers, caught up with a feel of interest, or maybe nostalgia for the old gamers, back when the Magnavox and other such systems were new and unique.

If a $99 360 comes then im pretty positive PS3 will get a price cut as well, probably to $199 or maybe even bribg over the 12gb model for $169.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Sorry to say but many of you are completely delusional. There isn't going to be a $99 mark. Expensive is the new norm. If anything Microsoft has been showing us all with the DRM that they want to make their price points go higher and grab even more dollars.

Charge you to play online. Charge you for DLC. Charge you to borrow or trade. Charge you to sell used.

Where does all that make someone say they are going to get a price cut?

The new Xbox One is going to be $400+.

The old Xbox 360 will at best be priced at $200 and they might bundle a bit more with it.

At this point, I don't see PS3 losing the lead. We've got TLoU, GTAV and GT6 on the way and they should keep it going strong until the PS4 arrives.

I'm not sure what the 360 has in store this year to be honest, haven't heard of much exclusives come out from them.

PS3 hasn't seen a system seller exclusive since Uncharted 3.....just sayin.

Its all about "getting what my firends have" at this point and which one is the cheapest for working class families.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I think its gonna happen. IMO Sony can't afford to match it with PS3....they need as much profits to offset the PS4 launch.

MS has 2008 360 prices.......they can drop to $99 and still make a profit.

You have a $199 and $299 360

Theres also a $299 and $399 Kinect bundle.

You drop it all by $100 and you still have a $299 360 sku.
