Next week, Tomodachi hits 1 million.

Is that the 14th 3DS title to hit that?

Wow, 360 version of RE almost outsold WiiU version.

Well, the 360 has 1.5x the userbase so I don't see anything weird about them being that close.

WiiU also has less titles to choose from, which favors Resident Evil.

See, I can do it too.

Not really.  RE is a style of game that appeals to a certain segment of the population.  Many won't buy it regardless of no other option.

With almost twice the install base, 360 should have outsold Wii U by double.  This is acutally a good result for Wii U, or a bad result for 360.

The Wii U RE: Revelations attach rate is almost the same as the attach rate for PS3.  I would say that is a good indicator that people will by third party content on Wii U in a similar way thtat they will buy it on other platforms when content is good and released same day, same price.  At least in Japan.

.. I expect new consoles to have higher attachment rates than 6-7 year old ones, because ususally those have a higher rate of not being in use anymore or being defect and/or replaced by a newer model

Flawed logic.  RE: is a title that is geared to a specific portion of the population that likes scary, mature, violent games.  There is no reason to think that % would be higher on a new system than an old system, but rather, most likely about the same.  I also don't think PS3 users have stopped using their systems yet based on software sales during the last year, though that trend is begining.

That can go for just about any game.

That's correct.  So we shouldn't expect more, or less, of an attach rate from Wii U or PS3 on multiplat titles.  The attach rates should be similar, which they are.

Sure, there's less for Wii U owners to choose from but that only favours RE if you assume that all of those gamers are potential buyers. On the other hand both PS3 and 360 already have established RE fanbases because of RE 5 & 6, which should favour both of those platforms quite a bit. And then you also have to consider the greater likelihood of Wii U owners already owning the game for the 3DS.

So, if we're looking at what platform is the most favourable for the game I fail to see how Wii U wins.

Both have their reasons for why they could sell better than the other. At the end of the day I am still surprised they are on par. I honestly expected the WiiU version to sell a bit better. Doesn't it have exclusive content?
