My guess Microsoft wasn't as open/accepted as Nintendo? X'D

Keeping all the additional profanity censorship in mind, I'd have to agree.

But Nintendo also seems to have their limits :P

Not the best sound/animation quality since it required some hacking.

Around the Network

Heh, I knew it would be you when I saw the thread title. ^_^

And yeah, I just saw that Pikachu video a couple of weeks ago. Pretty funny stuff for sure. XD

Amazing game. One of the best ever. <3

Altough Mr. Gates is real life person and not a character from a franchise. But yes, I can't really refute that. The original game could've gone even more whacky! XD

@Spurge:

Nice to have you back, lad! And I must say, cartridges really made developers brainstorm, even a little. But what can you do when everybody ditches you for something easier to work with, eh? :/

I love how they shit on modern programmers for complaining about limited resources ^_^

Old school Rare for the win!

The Retro Gaming Podcast is amazing simply for the fact that they interview all the old Atari/NES/C64 eras programmers. Hearing first hand how those guys were constantly circumventing hardware limitations to do things that the systems theoretically shouldn't be able to do makes for some fun listening. It also makes it hard for me to sympathize when a modern developer comes on stage and whines that the present resources aren't enough, wah.

In fairness though most of the older developers were hardware-first guys, so they were much more willing to dive into the systems' guts and see what they'd come up with.

Quote of the day!

Yeah, rare breeds like these are really going to the dogs these days...

but their legacy houls back from the grave and rises as indie's! Judgement Day is upon us!
