The Retro Gaming Podcast is amazing simply for the fact that they interview all the old Atari/NES/C64 eras programmers. Hearing first hand how those guys were constantly circumventing hardware limitations to do things that the systems theoretically shouldn't be able to do makes for some fun listening. It also makes it hard for me to sympathize when a modern developer comes on stage and whines that the present resources aren't enough, wah.
In fairness though most of the older developers were hardware-first guys, so they were much more willing to dive into the systems' guts and see what they'd come up with.
