Do you want the rebels in Syria to Win?

yes 55 26.44%

no 77 37.02%

maybe 20 9.62%

Fuck Syria, I want games ... 54 25.96%

They'll be no better replacement for Assad as Al-Maliki is turning into as Saddam's replacement, or the Muslim Brotherhood is being as the replacement for Mubarak. They're all shit because they are motivated by hatred revenge, tribalism and sectarianism, not by a desire for a better country for the people as a whole.

I've given up any hope that the Middle East will get any better until it gets much, much worse. And that invariably includes Israel as they won;t be able to wall themselves off from the shitstorm that's coming.

So you left out the most important option: It makes no difference. So I went with the option that has nothing to do with Syria.

Because I have Syrian friends who left the country years ago because it was run by a selfish dictator (former Assad's father) who also killed tens of thousands of Syrians to maintain his control.   Regardless of how 'peaceful' the country was, the fact is simply, he would rather killed thousands of innocents than step aside, (he bombed whole city neighbours killing women and children) which caused the peaceful protest to evolve into the civil war that we have now.   And why do you think there were peaceful protest demanding he step down in the first place?  Because he was doing such a great job running the country?

What if instead of having an election Obama decided to bomb red states instead?  That is the equivelant of what has happened here.   I can't imagine anyone would be saying irate 'redneck' Americans trying to overthrow him would be worse than he is.  But that what's happening here too.

I have Syrian friends as well that have said both good and bad things about him (before the civil war started) but none of them called him an evil dictator.

Also I certainly don't believe he is the one that is killing his own people to maintain control. I believe the United States has used the Arab Spring to get rid of the people in power that they didn't like or who disagreed with them, and then made puppet governments in many countries. So now they are doing the same to Syria and of course Bashar Al Assad doesn't stand a chance against the United States, Israel and the rebels funnded by the Americans. He is being squashed from every side and getting help from Iran, Hezbollah and support from China and Russia to fight the rebels but I doubt he will survive. Isn't it interesting that the countries that aren't friends with United States are supporting him? Why would they want to support an "evil dictator"?

Finally I don't trust western news sources for news for this kind of stuff cause it is very biased and spreads false information. How can we trust that he is bombing those neighborhoods? We don't have any proof that he is doing it.

Oh, and with the update on John McCain's visit. I'd like to add that he should (but won't) face a censure of congress... because that was TOTALLY out of line and undercutting the head of the government.

Where's the "don't care" option, because the rebels and the Syrian gov't are just two sides of the same dirty coin. It's a no-win situation. If there was a way to somehow eradicate Islam from the minds of these people, then maybe there'd actually be a chance for peace in the Middle East. Until that happens, forget about anything changing in that region.

What does Islam have to do with anything? If you are inferring Islam is the cause of war and conflict then why are there so many peaceful Islamic countries?

Some great 'news' report is floating around online that a supposed NATO study finds that 70% of Syrian support regime. (No media is carrying this except for Al Manar- the Hizb Allah terrorist channel and Iranian government media). The report comes from worldtribune.com a site that doesn't state any sources for the information except a 'NATO study' that apparently was able to poll people in the middle of airstrikes, car bombings and all out warfare in parts of the country NATO would not have access to. The Iranian and Hizb Allah media are both using the same story that world tribune has come up with. Nothing from Reuters or AP or any credible news outlet.

The world tribune doesn't even have a wikipedia page and the only thing I find about them outside of their own site is a New Yorker report from 2003 about how the 'news' outlet was started as a hobby by some guy in Virginia and was peddling conspiracy theories about WMDs in Iraq being buried in parts of Lebanon (under Hizb Allah control ironically).

^^Great article! I wonder if the Syrian people know who these Syrian rebels really are.
Also I hope Iran is not next but probably will be. America already has full control in the majority of the Middle East and there are only a few countries that are brave enough to stand up America/ Israel.

That 'press' report is full of crap. And the US media has covered the death of the Chechen linked to the Boston Bomber: http://articles.washingtonpost.com/2013-05-29/world/39599786_1_fbi-agent-fbi-review-team-fbi-shooting

He was being investigated for a triple murder with the older bomber from years ago too.

Any proof that the US orchestrated anything in Syria? Because the article doesn't present any. Also the US government has said it wants Assad out for 2 years now, it's not a secret. Then the article goes into several issues that have nothing to do with the Syrian issue (IRS, Benghazi, Boston Bombing) trying to connect them in ways that don't make sense in one article.

Gestapo? Pretty sure the Gestapo killed people at will, but the shooting of this man is under investigation and is well known in the media and not covered up whatsoever.

Edit: Usually when you have to stoop to comparing someone to Hitler, Mao and Pol Pot you've already lost the argument. Last time I checked the US wasn't committing holocaust and genocide on its own people. And what the hell does the Chealsea Clinton wedding have anything to do with anything? This article is written by a bitter sounding man that is spouting off at random things like a mentally ill homeless person.
