Of course Uncharted hasn't gotten bigger than that, because nothing has released on home console since Uncharted 3 and it IS the biggest opener. Not the point, though. MGS4 was already part of an established franchise. 

In terms of hype and reviews...the last of us is defineltly being treated like the sequel to Uncharted 3. And Uncharted is a series which is now commerically more sucesful than MGS. Considering the only thing which is selling Uncharted is naughty dog's brand name...I think this game could do MGS launch numbers for this reason

I see it pulling off 1.2-1.3 million. MGS4 opening numbers would be absolutely astounding for The Last Of Us, however.


Its funny to think how big MGS4 actually was. PS3 was an overpriced disaster at the time and it still managed to pull off 2 million in its first week of (that too in summer) and now that the PS3 is outselling both consoles by a wide margin we're hoping one of the biggest tripple A exclusives to reach that figure.

After playing more than 10 hours, I can only say that this game is overrated.

Too many glitches (most are hilarious though), ridiculous AI (playing on normal, feels like something from Crysis 2), generic shooting mechanics. However it is still a good game, just not a 10/10 one. UC2 is better IMO.

your opinion... thats all it is.. just an opinion.  Millions of people may disagree with u, but that doesnt make ur personal opinion any less valid .  I personally cant wait to play it.  Day one for me!  sorry u didnt enjoy it.

Whoa.. so you figure the AI in UC2 to be better and the gunplay of UC2 isn't "generic"? I guess each to his own.

Let me tell you though: The game hasn't even started to pick up yet ;)

No, I prefer the characters and story of UC2 (I hate how Joel treats Ellie).

And well, if a game needs more than 80% to pick up, then there is a problem.
