Of course Uncharted hasn't gotten bigger than that, because nothing has released on home console since Uncharted 3 and it IS the biggest opener. Not the point, though. MGS4 was already part of an established franchise. 

In terms of hype and reviews...the last of us is defineltly being treated like the sequel to Uncharted 3. And Uncharted is a series which is now commerically more sucesful than MGS. Considering the only thing which is selling Uncharted is naughty dog's brand name...I think this game could do MGS launch numbers for this reason

I see it pulling off 1.2-1.3 million. MGS4 opening numbers would be absolutely astounding for The Last Of Us, however.


Its funny to think how big MGS4 actually was. PS3 was an overpriced disaster at the time and it still managed to pull off 2 million in its first week of (that too in summer) and now that the PS3 is outselling both consoles by a wide margin we're hoping one of the biggest tripple A exclusives to reach that figure.
