Forums - Sony - Sony Employees Respond to 'PS4 No DRM' Campaign

Like someone already mentioned, we gamers are a few vocal minority. If Sony does indeed has plans to implement some sort of DRM (and they see the benefit in it) the amount of tweets needs to be HUGE, and I mean that it needs to be disgustingly huge (millions and millions unique tweets), for Sony to ditch out this completely.

That's without taking into consideration that some people are are doing this tweets are going to get the PS4 anyway, with out without DRM. There are millions of millions of potential customers that don't even know what DRM is (the "casual" market if you will), those are the ones that bring the money to the table.

I would like the tweets change Sony's vision, but I won't get my hopes up.

They could use the amount of tweets as a sample size and extrapolate it so it gives them a good understanding of how many ppl are against it vs the amount of ppl that are indifferent about it. Doesn't have to be millions of tweets IMO.

By the way... it is interesting that the Sony fans feel it necessary to petition for this.

It seems incongruous with all the comments I keep hearing about Sony loving gamers and how "they'd never do this"

Perhaps they're not the same exact people?

There's only a couple hundresd of people on the Internet don't be silly

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

When you are a big company that needs to sell millions of consoles to make a profit, the sample size also needs to be huge. If we go by current PS3 numbers, then the sample size needs to be at a minimum 10% of those, so aprox. 7 million unique tweets to make a reliable sample size.

And again this is not taking into consideration a lot of variables, like people who are making the tweets but in reality they are going to get the console anyway, people that simple do not care, etc. Sony also has numbers that speak louder than tweets, like game sales, percentage of profits of new games, digital sales, PSN revenue, etc. Those numbers are more important than tweets.

Nintendo and PC gamer

The fact that they aren't denying it is a little troubling.

like I've always been saying; the ball is in Sony's court...I expect Sony to follow what I think yoshia said that "it'll be up to the dev" which is still bad but sounds better than the seemingly "mandate" that MS has proposed...

I can stomach blocking used games; it will just equal to less games owned and increased bargain bin shopping for me...I will not stand for a system that requires me to check in at various times. and if Sony goes that route I will only be owning a Wii U for 8th gen home consoles.

we might be a minority but that doesn't mean our voices shouldn't be heard.

Indeed, but it's a good sign that most of them responded in someway praising the fans.

Sony has the best fans and employees confirmed! :D
