Forums - Sony - Rumor: Sony had a DRM system for the PS4, but it's now on hold

Geoff Keighly is the source. If you saw HOW he said it, he could have just read it on NeoGaf like the rest of us. He's probably just speculating.

I have bullet holes everywhere on my body from the start of this war over the used game issue with the xbox one. It's only fair you guys feel the same lol

Fair?

You only have bullet holes because you accepted to stand by their decisions as if they were your own

Also just want to point out that if this true that would mean Sony lied (you know like that evil MS did) about not having such a thing or even thinking about it.

Nah they wouldn't be lieing, broski

They already said that the used game thing would be up to the devs

They were talking about "always online" when they said they never thought about it

Nice try though ;)

So having a full DRM system in place is leaving it up to the devs?

Looks like you shouldn't be so whitty.

Yep according to what is known. If the devs want to act(EA) then its there for them

But they wouldn't have lied at the end of the day like you claimed if implemented

Accorind to what is known Sony said anything like this is left up to publishers/developers. However if the OP is true then Sony had and entire DRM system in place. So that is not leaving it up to publishers/developers.

If they did have this in place, then this could be bad for Microsoft. They announced it first, and botched it creating the backlash. Now everyone has to cancel the DRM, which will annoy EA and they might take it out on MS for the messy way they told everyone. Could this be the end of "special relationship" number 2?

PSN: Osc89

NNID: Oscar89

....I'm not going to bash any companies or consoles ,but knowing how complicated the industry became I'm sort of close of just going full Nintendo for a bit. As much I enjoy the Playstation consoles, I'm feeling feeling a bit overwhelm.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

Give me an example of what "an entire drm system" that you are implying from this OP would be

DRM like SimCity from the likes of EA and no DRM from the likes of CDprojectRED. Choices like this.

The way I see it:

If you have no high speed internet, and no way of getting internet you are not in a market for a next gen console for different reasons

If you have high speed internet available, but can't afford it, again you are not in the market for the next gen consoles

if you have high speed internet but its "spotty" and disconnects often, you should be able to enjoy the console as you would any other console (single player mostly, multiplayer when internet is available)

Sorry but this is one of the most moronic things I have read on the internet.

Last I heard 31 million xbox360's were not hooked up to the internet.

If Microsoft want to ignore these consumers, they can at their peril.

31 million without internet eh? A console that sold 75 million in sales and 40+ million "paying" xbox live gold members an god knows how many silver ones that microsoft doesnt include in their numbers has 31 million users without internet? And this is after the infamous RROD which pretty much decimated all first and second gen xboxes and a slim redesign which made many people rebuy the console?

I wouldnt throw out the word moronic lightely but...

If I was microsoft i wouldnt lose too much sleep over lost business due to internet not being available. We are in year 2013 where smartphone sales are over 200 million every year based on the the premise of being "always on" and having available 3g/4g internet everywhere you go. Without internet they are useless devices, as are tablets, laptops...Google has an entire operating system called Chrome which doesnt work unless you have internet. And all those products are growing rapidly... Next to go internet only will be Television when IPTV becomes the norm in the next few years.

46 million gold AND silver memebers.

77 - 46 = 31

Oh and I don't know if you noticed, but smartphones generally come with their own internet connection.

This is a serious question: Do you work for Microsoft or EA?

You are the only person I've seen actively defending the stripping of consumer rights for the benefit of two of the greediest corporations on the planet.
