Microsoft Explains Xbox One Controller’s New Buttons

Menu and View are the new Back and Start.

Microsoft has explained the names and functionality of those mysterious new buttons onXbox One’s controller where Start and Back appeared on Xbox 360. According to a Microsoft representative, these buttons are named “Menu” and View.”

“The Menu button (on the right) will bring up context-specific menus which game and app developers can design to enhance the user experience,” Microsoft told IGN. “The Menu button could be used in scenarios such as bringing up in-game menus, showing video playback options, and accessing commands on the console’s user interface.”

The View button, meanwhile, “will change views or provide more information in games and apps. The function of the View button will be driven by developers. Possible uses of the View button include viewing a map during a role playing game, displaying a leaderboard in a first person shooter, and enhancing the navigation of the console’s user interface.”

i want a snapshot button. or kinect should take a screenshot when i say "snap"

Ah I thought that "view" button would be for the snap feature.. i.e. picture in picture type feature they demoed.

So basically these are just new labels to the same two buttons controllers have always had.

really? lol didn't know that, was just short for snapshot haha. but i would love if it would work like that. i love screenshots and it's always hard to take one in a fight or other situation where you have no time to push another button. that problem would be solved if i could just say something.

i think when you say "kinect take a spanshot while im kicking this guys ass for me so i dont have to press a button" and it will take a snapshot. im 99.9% sure thats all you need to say and it will happen

is a spanshot a shot which takes a series of screenhots over a given time? would be something like "kinect take a 10 seconds spanshot" then.

Yes, new names for the same buttons - the black and white buttons from the Original Xbox.  

I do like the look of the new AB XY buttons - the clear lettering looks really elegant, sharp and classy.

I am looking forward to what the new feedback HD Triggers feel like.

Do we know if the big white button is the same as the current Guide button?

 



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
