Not even close. Megaman's just a character in a game. Few will buy Smash for Megaman, fewer still will buy Wii U for Megaman in Smash. Bombshells: Retro makes amazing new game! GTA coming to Wii U! Mario 3D is like nothing you've seen before!! Wii U gets a price cut...tomorrow!!! Even the Sonic exclusivity was somewhat of a bomshell. This direct had little if anything shocking/amazing. Titles like Kart and Mario and DK were at best solid but at worst unoriginal. I guess the biggest thing close to a bomshell is that DK is coming early this fall. That's quick and exciting if you really needed a new DK this soon after the last one, and after NSMBU. |
I saw Megaman as a great way for people to get hyped about Smash. Sure it's a big series, but they needed something to really excite people. That's what Megaman did. Smash is the definition of a system seller and it needs great visibility as it builds up to launch. This was the first successful step in that.
Call of Duty: Dogs
Super Mario: Cats
lol I see what you did there!

megaman was my second favority hype moment of e3, right behind KH3
Now I must say.... I´ve got mixed feelings about this ND...
... from one point-of-view, Nintendo decided to play it safe this time. We all know that Mario 3D, Sonic, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, DK, Bayonetta, W101, Project X, ZeldaWW will be solid games, but we already know that they were coming (with the exception of DK). So no real big surprise. Good games are coming but...
... everybody was expecting some information about either new Ips (Miyamoto is said to be working on one) or the return of the old franchises that may appeal to "core" gamers, like Metroid, StarFox, F-Zero or even Earthbound, specially now that Nintendo is teaming up with such great developers like Retro, Monolith, Sega and Platinum
It is time for Nintendo to work on every one of its franchises if they want to real get people´s attention to WiiU. What about the great old sports franchises like Wave Race and 1080 Snowboarding? Why not bringing the back?
For one side, it´s understandable that Nintendo may be dropping those franchises due to sales. Not even Metroid Prime sales are comparable to DK,Mario,Pokemon sales (Corruption barely sold 1,6 million..). They may be givin up about conquering "core" gamers once and for all, but it is a shame. It is really dissapointing for Nintendo fans
Apparently Nintendo announcement in 15 minutes
