So I just re-watched it. Some of my rage is gone. The quality is much better in HD. Soo...

Positives:
-Mariokart 8 looks excellent.
-Mario 3D World looked solid, polished and - with the locked camera - accessible. 4 player is a great addition.
-WWHD looked beautiful, with tremendous improvements.
-X was an absolute stunner, some of the best graphics anywhere. Can be sure the gameplay will be solid too.

Cons:
-No bombshells. Nothing.
-No price drops, nothing to spur the hardware.
-Mario 3D is very safe, very bland.
-Retro's doing another DK. Seriously? We just had one. And a Mario. And another Mario is coming. It looks like a solid game, but come one. Variety is needed.
-Nothing exciting in the Wii-game category.
-Third party support is truly poor. There are some solid games, but nothing new. Without COD and some others, WiiU truly can't compete with PS4 or X1.

Nintendo really had a chance here to grab the market. Instead, it really looks like Wii U is moving into "secondary" console status, or - like Gamecube - one mostly for kids. Good games were shown and I think Wii U will do OK, but this e3 was not what Wii U needed. It needed more.

Megaman isn't a bomshell?

Not even close.  Megaman's just a character in a game.  Few will buy Smash for Megaman, fewer still will buy Wii U for Megaman in Smash.

Bombshells:  Retro makes amazing new game!  GTA coming to Wii U!  Mario 3D is like nothing you've seen before!!  Wii U gets a price cut...tomorrow!!!

Even the Sonic exclusivity was somewhat of a bomshell.  This direct had little if anything shocking/amazing.  Titles like Kart and Mario and DK were at best solid but at worst unoriginal.  I guess the biggest thing close to a bomshell is that DK is coming early this fall.  That's quick and exciting if you really needed a new DK this soon after the last one, and after NSMBU.

I saw Megaman as a great way for people to get hyped about Smash.  Sure it's a big series, but they needed something to really excite people.  That's what Megaman did.  Smash is the definition of a system seller and it needs great visibility as it builds up to launch.  This was the first successful step in that.

megaman was my second favority hype moment of e3, right behind KH3
