Europeans don't watch fake football.
Extremely smart business decision. The NFL is huge in the US, and every Sunday its gets gigantic ratings. NBC pays billions every year just to broadcast it. This was one of the few very wise decisions from MS regarding Xbox one.

Yeah, the best place to watch it is in a bar! Oh wait...

You don't say, truthspeaker! Now that you mention it... *sigh*

Seems excessive, to be honest. Will this really win that many people to the Xbox One? I can't really see it. Most NFL fans, I think, just want to watch the games, as they can already look up stats on tablets, phones, and computers. Doesn't the NFL package on DirecTV already do this?
Don't get me wrong, it seems like a nice extra, but I'm not sure it's going to be a great investment.

Nah, stadium.
in a bar or on public viewing locations are way too many people with no knowledge about the sport.
Stadium > at home > in a bar > public viewing
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
Perhaps this will let you do things like change camera angles? Some of it could be promotional too -- "NFL Sunday ... better with XBox One" type slogans running all during NFL broadcasts for instance could be why they paid so much.
A couple of days profits for 5 years of content, I think Microsoft will survive.

Wow, a whopping $400 million on an entertainment feature.
And they also announced a Halo TV-series with Spielberg.
Imagine how many hardcore games that investment could have given us over the same five years.
Seems like MS has big plans and this could be seen as making a pre-emptive strike against Apple in the future battle for the living room.
We just have to accept that Xbox One is trying to become a general entertainment box rather than a dedicated gaming machine. But as a gamer it's hard for me to accept since I have zero interest in anything that's not games when I turn on my console.
Maybe this is the right way to go into the future gen. Honestly I hope for success for Xbox One but I don't think this NFL deal was a wise business move. It's just so much money. Like Molyneux said on IGN last nite, it's very difficult and risky to try to deliver top quality at so many different areas.
