I find it strange that both Adam and Jeff went out of their way to state they weren't the ones clapping. Seems like such an odd thing to single out and take note of.

Maybe that's the reason why they went out of their way to build that custom made tent, rather than renting out a big hall. So they could control the enviroment for the sound and mics.

I imagine many viewers were extremely perplexed when that god awful EA Sports montage played and people were applauding after it.

It didn't seem very likely that those applauding and cheering were neutral observers.
