"Microsoft did say that if a disc was used with a second account, that owner would be given the option to pay a fee and install the game from the disc, which would then mean that the new account would also own the game and could play it without the disc."

It is the same way Steam works. I never heard anyone complain about that.
Actually it is more user friendly, because you can sell the game for a fee. Steam does not offer this option at all.

dafuq?  if you buy a PC retail game, you install it, and you register your activation key with your account so you can re-download it again if you wish; but if you give the disk to a friend; as long as he has the actual disk on his disk- tray he cant play the game without having to pay a thing.   The disk is not attached to your account, the activation code that comes with the disk, is.

Yeah, because Steam offers retail games. Seriously, at least try to adress what I just said.

Dude, we are talking  about DISKS based games = retail games.   So considering I thought you were not off-topic, I understood you were referring to the ability to register PC retail games with STEAM, and that the disk would be usesless because it was already registered to your Steam account.   In which case you would be wrong, as I just mentioned.   BUT it looks like you were having an schizophrenic interpretation of what is written, or did not even bothered to read the whole thing about it.

Read the OP and the small article attached carefully, before writing nonsense.

So when I buy a physical copy of something, I dont own it anymore? Where did that come from?

Welp...if E3 doesn't impress me, MS can play with themselves.

Waitwaitwait...if it works like this you couldn't even have different savegames on the same console. This can't be happening?

So does this mean a user can't lend a game to his friend? Unless he pays for that feature?

Pretty much. We still don't know the details of exactly how much it will cost or exactly how it will work. Doesn't matter either way, its a negative and the fact that MIcrosfot didn't mention it at all in the reveal should probably sound alarms for those considering on buying it.

it's probably not always on. It's probably like steam which requires it to be activated.

And like steam the games will be cracked.

If you wanted to let your friend borrow it couldn't you just give him your account? and you play games on his? Thats what I do with my brother on steam all the time.

This is simple horrible. Wonder if some 3rd parties were the ones that pushed this idea, let's hope neither Sony or Nintendo follow suit.

Nintendo and PC gamer

But, are the games tied to accounts or systems or both? What about sharing games between accounts on the same console?
