Forums - Gaming - What other games, developers, make bad decisions like what we see Nintendo do with their games?

Activision: Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero.
Electronic Arts: Dead Space 3, the latest Sim City.
Square-Enix: Final Fantasy XIII and XIV.
Capcom: Resident Evil 6, Devil May Cry. How could you forget Megaman?
Konami: Castlevania LoS: MoF.
Sony: SOCOM, Twisted Metal, PSABR.
Microsoft: Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.

...and many more examples. There are worse things than The Wind Waker, because sometimes IPs die altogether after bad decisions.

I do not know about PSABR and Tony Hawk.

Some franchises, like Hawk are just not able to go on forever. Skateboarding is not as popular as it was when Tony was below the age of 50.

Maybe I do agree with PSABR. So disregard that.

Glad to realize other games are ruined as well. Thing with Nintendo, is that they usually come back with something that everyone wants. Wind Waker, Twilight. Sunshine, Galaxy. Mario 2, Mario 3.

I would be careful using the word "everyone". However, there's no denying that Wii was much more desireable than the GameCube could ever be.

Well, according to sales, many wanted these games.

Games that reach a broader audience, then. I'd also like to take install base into account, but then we'd be set on the slippery slope of discussing the seemingly endless possible causes behind sales numbers (or lack thereof).

Which recent Mario games are you referring to? The last two NSMB games weren't exactly what many gamers wanted, but they still sold very well, although they may not be the system sellers they once were. And they'll continue to sell.

Wind Waker would probably have been a bigger commercial success with a different art style. Wind Waker on the other hand sold as well as it possibly could that late in the Wii's lifespan. I mean, were there any other titles released that year of any significance?

you are confusing bad decisions with not expected decisions. Two different things.
All games you mentioned from Nintendo sold really well, so they can't count as bad.

you sound as a cheap gaming journalist, that you find around every corner this days.

Speaking of old icons, Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was an awful decision.

That's so sweet of you, Rol. But we all know the awful decisions started years before that... :(

What's wrong with WW? I liked it so much. It was fun, it doesnt' matter how it looks. IF you mean other companies that don't want change and always want to not challenge themselves to create something different...

This, a  million times this. Talk about gutting a classic franchise...
