Which Is the bigger 1st party exclusive?

Gran Turismo 237 50.97%

Halo 228 49.03%

Total:465

Gran Turismo sells in more countries (Japan) and it's part of a much less saturated genre, so it actually has more potential for growth.

Have you ever seen GT animated movie? How much does GT gives Sony in revenue compared to Halo series? How's the online agglomerate on average for both games? How much did both of them influence other games?

I believe some of these questions are what you need to ask.

Both are huge. Sony has sold more Gran Turismo games than Halo in a complete lifetime.

However Microsoft has sold more Halo than Gran Turismo this generation. This generation Halo averaged 6m a year in 6 years. GT averaged 3m in 5 years.

I wouldn't say one or the other is bigger as both are huge. Lifetime I'd say GT but this generation goes to Halo.

That was the big issue guy claims EVER and so when you claim EVER, EVERYTHING since its inception comes into play not just cherry picked results ;)

Well under that logic you are saying things like Sonic are bigger than certain games even though he has kind of died off in todays time.  There is multiple ways of looking at it so you are not going to get a definitive answer.

Sure makes sense. I am not really defending gran turismo here as much as i'm going against HALO being the "Biggest 1st party exclusive EVER"

The biggest 1st party exclusive is Mario.  Halo and GT are both in the top 5 though.

Mario and Pokemon are both bigger than Halo or Gran Turismo in my eyes, so I don't think either could claim to be the biggest 1st party title.

Out of the two, I'd put Gran Turismo ahead, though Halo has definitely grown this generation. Halo isn't really massive in Europe, I get the idea that it's bigger in the States tough.

I don't think anyone reasonable can argue Gran Turismo was bigger than Halo this gen.

Halo games sold on xbox 360: 40mil(should get up to 42mil)

Gran Turismo games sold on Playstation: 20mil
Gran Turismo games sold on Playstation 2: 30mil
Gran Turismo games sold on Playstation 3: 17mil(should get up to 25mil+)

This generation Halo was more popular than Gran Turismo has ever been. Time will tell whether the post 2009 milking will hurt the long term viability of the franchise. But if the trends continue, Halo as a franchise should pass Gran Turismo by next gen.

Obviously neither game is even comparable to Mario or even Pokemon.

Pokemon is 2nd party.  I also took it into consideration.

No question, Halo.

Gran Turismo couldn't maintain sales as strong if it released as frequently as Halo games.

Halo!!! it's not even close competition, just because you sale your last 5 mill or so 20yrs later at heavily discounted prices does not mean you have legs it means your consumer base are cheap and refuse to buy games at full price.

This.

Halo sold significantly more units this gen and at full price. Its also a big reason many people have Xbox Live Gold.

For one Halo doesn't release once a year, Ubisoft have stated that they expect a weaker sales for the new AC game, And you shall see when GT6 is released if it has a bigger opening than Halo 4 than it's a bigger franchise (Simple), And if it has a bigger opening than GT5 it's  on the increase and can withstand multiple releases

Without order nothing can exist - without chaos nothing can evolve.

AC didn't increase. Brotherhood and Revelations won't achieve AC2 numbers.

Better comparison. How many racing IPs saw sales increased with annual releases?

GT5 has been bundled so much and hit the bargain bin fast.
