Forums - Nintendo - What are EA thinking?

Isn't it obvious? EA wants to be cool again. First they drop online passes and then they sucker punch Nintendo.

Coming back with a one, two punch! X'D

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

first off this was not an official statement it was simply an individual employee tweeting ( with regards to the power comment he's a senior software engineer apparently so yeah i'd think he knows what he's talking about )

but regardless they've already stated that they are doing no further development on the wii u

...so why should they care?

besides the majority of nintendo fan posts i've seen with regards to EA in certain threads is how much EA doesn't matter to them so i really don't get what this uproar is about

Yep, WiiU is totally weaker than 360.

yes it is weaker in some areas, an example of that is its CPU

they are getting free publicity

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

The CPU is "weaker" because it isn't meant to do what CPUs used to do on PS3 and 360. If your code is heavily CPU dependent, you'll run into issues. It's a different, more modern design. And that's pretty much it.

That guy has probably got the sack and won't work in the industry again.

As for EA their hissy fit will end before the end of the year when shareholders demand that the publisher doesn't ignore a console that's going to be the market leader for a while. By the end of this year I'm expecting the Wii U to have an installed userbase over 10m, and the PS4 and 720 lucky to have an installed userbase of 2m each at the most. It's going to take years for the PS4 and 720 to close that gap, if they manage to do it before the Wii 3 arrives at all.

I thought you gave up that pipe dream. Nintendo will have less than 4mil shipped by August... That is less than a million in 6months. And you expect them to ship another 7mil the next 6 months?

It can't be a bad business move because it wasn't a business move at all, not unless you can prove that it was an orchestrated attack. It's quite possible that EA, as a business, isn't happy about that outburst, either.

People need to cool it with the whole "one employee equals the whole company" thing. It's silly no matter which companies are involved. If another EA employee came out and said he loved Nintendo, would people suddenly take that as meaning EA loves Nintendo? No? Well, then.
