Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comic Adventure Announced (3DS/PC/Wii U)

I've been a big fan of the Scribblenauts franchise since it's initial launch on the DS in 2009, and I've been there on day one for each of its great sequels (Super Scribblenauts in 2010 and Scribblenauts Unlimited in 2012). And if you played Unlimited on the 3DS, PC, or Wii U, you'll know that there were some creations based of the DC universe thanks in part to 5th Cell's parent company, Warner Bros. Interactive.

Well now you'll get the chance to take Maxwell and his magic notebook straight into the actual DC Universe in Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comic Adventure, headed to the 3DS, PC, and Wii U systems this fall! :D

Press Release:

Warner Bros. has announced Scribblenauts Unlimited, confirming a rumored report last month. A release is planned on the Wii U, 3DS, and PC this fall.

Players will once again take on the role of main character Maxwell, who will travel to famous DC Comics locales such as Gotham City, Metropolis, Atlantis, and more. You’ll come across the likes of Batman, Superman, and other Justice League members, plus Super Villains including The Joker, Lex Luthor, and Sinestro. Maxwell’s magic notebook will be needed “to put a stop to the villains’ evil schemes and save the day”.

New to Scribblenauts Unmasked are the “dynamically created puzzles” known as Heroic Feats. These “increase the game’s replayability by continuously generating original scenarios requiring different solutions with each visit.”

Unmasked will also include a new Super Hero Creator tool for the Wii U and PC versions that allow users to create their own Super Hero or Super Villain using any DC Comics universe item and modifying behaviors, appearances, and powers. Creations can be shared with the community and download other players’ characters.

I've liked the artstyle of the naut games, just never creative enough to take advantage of em.

Yeah, that whole issue is really lame. Not even an eShop release (although I heard that it popped up for an hour or so so some Europeans actually have the game. )

Hopefully Warner Bros. can straighten that out by the time Unmasked comes out later this year. Great series. @_@

could somebody explain to me what exactly the scribblenauts games exactly are? should i get unlimited on my PC?

Scribblenauts is a Action Puzzle game where its main hook is that you have the ability to create objects by writing them. This allows you to solve different puzzles in the different levels.

For example, there's a starite (the main Scribblenaut collectable) you must retrieve. It's stuck in a tree. How are you going to get it?

You could write "ladder" and use it to climb the tree. Or write "jetpack" to attach to Maxwell (the protagonist) to fly up and get it. Or write "lumberjack" so that he'll appear and cut dow the tree. It's a game where your only limitation is your imagination.

The original only had nouns, but Super Scribblenauts added adjectives (so you could write "lovable Cthulu" or "evil tiny spotted clown"). Unlimited on PC and Wii U allow a creation tool where you can literally create your own noun by pieceing together different objects (like creating a dog tank that fires babies).

The game's on steam, and I highly recommend it.

Will this one actually come to european Wii Us?

The last scene was really funny!

Well the game's simple art style allows them to focus on adding as many nouns and adjectives as possible. It's crazy how many there are.

There were 22,802 objects/nouns in the original scribblenauts, and of course more have been added since then. And of course, Super and Unlimited have adjectives as well, so that number has grown to staggering numbers. It's just a unique game that's really unlike anything else on the market. And it's not just a good idea, but it's executed well as well.
