Have my copy pre-ordered through NewEgg. Really excited about this title and hope can get my fill of hours of Fire Emblem done by time SMT IV releases.

sigh.......no vita release...can i cry? plz?

I'll trade you SHT IV for Persona 5!

P5 won't be a Vita game so you don't have to trade anything.

Btw, SMT Nocturne got a 35/40 and Strange Journey got a 36/40 for comparison. Both very good games also, though Nocturne is better...

You're privvy to insider information? The game isnt announced as far as we know. It totally could be coming to Vita, actually its about 300k+ sales they would be losing if they dont bring it to the Vita.

If only the battles werent 2D i'd be all over it SMT4. But it just feels too cheap like this.

There isn't much reason to expect a Vita version (or 3DS version for that matter for people who've been saying that). The game started back in 2010, around the same time they were working on Catherine too, which was the Persona team's last original game, and that was for PS360. They also said they were working on a new engine for P5.

The game will be for PS3 at the very least, and possibly 360. A Vita version alongside a PS3 version could happen but it's more likely that P5 gets a handheld version in the future.

I remember when P3P was announced for the PSP people were expecting P5 on the PSP, lol.

The logical reason and the trend were seeing in Japan are that the games are beeing released on PS3 and PSVita. But, given the sales of P4G on the Vita and comparing to the main series, i think it would be insane not to release it for the platform. With that said they may go with main PS3 version first and Vita port later. I think its safe to assume the game will hit the Vita sooner or later. With that said working on "new engine" may or may not mean anything.

I think a 360 version is very unlikely though.

Your loss really...the game will be awesome with or without 3D battles just like Devil Survivor, Strange Journey, Soul Hackers. 3D dungeons are far more important and SMT IV has that.

We haven't seen that trend with RPGs. On the other hand, the new Atelier game is PS3 exclusive. Drakengard 3 is PS3 exclusive. KH 1.5 Remix is PS3 exclusive. The new Tales game in the works will definitely be PS3 exclusive.

It may get a Vita port down the line but most likely won't be on the Vita initially. I don't know how likely a 360 version is but Catherine and P4 Arena were on it so I wouldn't count it out yet.

Sen no kiseki, Ragnarok Odyssey Ace and Atelier Totori on the RPG front. Segas new football game, one piece warriors 2,etc.  Its building a trend.

I dont know why you're beeing so sour. You dont have a Vita do you?

Only 1-2 of those are multiplat RPGs (is Ragnarok an RPG?). Totori got ported. The trend with Atlus console games is PS360 if anything.

I'm not sour. I think people are setting themselves up for disappointment if they expect a Vita version initially. A port maybe. Same goes for people expecting P5 on the 3DS because other SMT games are on it (though I wouldn't expect a P5 port on it).

The game is aimed at the japanese game. For it to be released in a portable is only logical. I have both of them so i dont mind either way. With that said, i am expecting the game to be PS3/PSVita cause thats what makes sense in the japanese market and given how well golden did on the Vita and how much the series sells. Golden actually sold almost as much as main entries in the series. For a port that was amazing. If they release a full sequal it would have to be released in it in one way or another.

Also, the series has an anime style to it, the extra power consoles have wouldnt exactly see it improve alot in quality. If they went for realistic it would also completely ruin the charm, so given the console landscape at the moment, i dont see how they cannot release it on a portable. I mean, even SMT4 is on the 3DS and thats the latest sequal on the main series.

Anime styles are definitely improved by better power/graphics. We wouldn't have seen Ninokuni, Tales of Vesperia, the Naruto games, etc. look the way they do without being on HD consoles. Not that the Vita couldn't provide good anime graphics, but that's not the point.

The console landscape on the PS3 in Japan is pretty receptive to JRPGs...see Tales. P4 Golden did well on the Vita but Catherine was on PS3/360 and so was P4 Arena. So I'm just going to assume they'll be going in that direction (if not just PS3 exclusive) for Persona 5, but the Vita might get a port down the road. We'll see.

Those werent RPG's. Tale of Xillia sold well, but Xillia 2 declined. 400k seems to be the best you can look forward to on the PS3. Given Vita did almost 300k with a smaller installed base  last year i think theres a trend here, but oh well... we shall see when it gets announced. I still think PS3+Vita is the best solution if they want the most sales.
