The game is aimed at the japanese game. For it to be released in a portable is only logical. I have both of them so i dont mind either way. With that said, i am expecting the game to be PS3/PSVita cause thats what makes sense in the japanese market and given how well golden did on the Vita and how much the series sells. Golden actually sold almost as much as main entries in the series. For a port that was amazing. If they release a full sequal it would have to be released in it in one way or another.
Also, the series has an anime style to it, the extra power consoles have wouldnt exactly see it improve alot in quality. If they went for realistic it would also completely ruin the charm, so given the console landscape at the moment, i dont see how they cannot release it on a portable. I mean, even SMT4 is on the 3DS and thats the latest sequal on the main series.

Anime styles are definitely improved by better power/graphics. We wouldn't have seen Ninokuni, Tales of Vesperia, the Naruto games, etc. look the way they do without being on HD consoles. Not that the Vita couldn't provide good anime graphics, but that's not the point.
The console landscape on the PS3 in Japan is pretty receptive to JRPGs...see Tales. P4 Golden did well on the Vita but Catherine was on PS3/360 and so was P4 Arena. So I'm just going to assume they'll be going in that direction (if not just PS3 exclusive) for Persona 5, but the Vita might get a port down the road. We'll see.

Those werent RPG's. Tale of Xillia sold well, but Xillia 2 declined. 400k seems to be the best you can look forward to on the PS3. Given Vita did almost 300k with a smaller installed base last year i think theres a trend here, but oh well... we shall see when it gets announced. I still think PS3+Vita is the best solution if they want the most sales.
