Forums - Movies & TV - Ender's Game Trailer

I didn't see a thread about this anywhere... I am a huge fan of Ender's Game. The book is fantastic. Here's the trailer for the movie that's coming out this year... It looks like it will either be fantastic, or really awful. I'm hoping it'll be great.

Direct link to youtube page, and link to AMA done by Asa, the actor who plays Ender (Thanks, Soleron!).

The book is something that kids can read, but it's definitely got some darker themes. The book does not shy away from violence, and there are some moral issues that are brushed on (though much less so than later books). I've found that rereading it as I get older is just as rewarding as when I first read it, because I find more and more stuff that I didn't notice before. There's definitely a lot to think about after you read it.

The person playing Ender did an unofficial Reddit AmA where he stressed that the impact of the darker scenes remains intact and "If there is one thing I want to accomplish by doing this, it is to make the lovers of the book happy. I don't want it to be another Hollywood sci-fi piece of shit"

Amazing book, absolutely worth reading for anyone, I hope the film is more than superficial.

Is the trailer still working for others/ I cannot click on it. Harrison Ford looks like he is going to be good in this! Anything is better than his role in Cowboys and Aliens.

It's working for me. Here's a link to the youtube page if anyone's having trouble.

Soleron; thanks for posting that. It was nice reading some thoughts from Asa on what he thinks about the movie.

Yess, can't wait for this movie. I loved the book and hopefully the movie can live up to it.
OT:woo 1000 post!

Looks weird. I remember the book a bit different.

Just finished the book a few months ago. Can't wait for this. I hope they embrace the contents of the book, and don't turn it into a special effects extravaganza.

I wonder what the MPAA will rate it...it really should be R if the book is faithfully recreated on screen.

One of my favorite series.

I'm very much afraid this is aimed to be a 'blockbuster' and not so much as a tribute to an outstanding story.
The thought processes, psychological development and the filosophical issues adressed int he story probably won't translate to the modern big screen. They could, but I don't think they will.

Still hoping for the best though.
