So last gen and in the start of this gen we got these original and artistic games like jet set radio, blinx, bioshock, mass effect etc... But the last years it's just sequel after sequel. We don't see any new IP's anymore.

Do you think gaming has lost his originality? And will it return with the start of the next gen?

I guess not... one of the latest GOTY content was a really original game.

There are others releasing every month too... of couse there are the not more original fanchises but there are the new original ones too.

we need more games like finalfantasy ix, and less like.. well shooters

My answer to this is exactly the same as to what's happening in the music industry.

The industry continues to focus on the same generic thing that will have the broadest appeal possible instead of focusing on things that are truly unique. Is the music industry becoming stale? If you look at what's "hot" in hollywood, yeah I'd say so. And if you look at what's "hot" in the console gaming industry, yeah I'd say so.

But there is more unique and good music today than there ever has been before. Same goes with games, if you know where to look. Stop listening to all the pop radio stations and try something new. =)

No there are still plenty of new ip's coming out still which have their own unique way of looking at things and having new expieriences but i pretty much agree with wfz here

Too many sequels in my opinion. I have a feeling it's going to stay this way next gen. :-/

The Last of Us demo is coming in two weeks.

You should play more Nintendo.

The Last of Us, Puppeteer, Beyond 2 Souls, etc.

Solution: Buy a Sony console next gen, dude.

And in terms of new IPs this gen showed a lot more than last gen.
