Crown is back?

Wonder if it'll fall off again, now that other games have had their release dates confirmed during E3.

I think Pokemon will be here in August

7 days before being released, Uncharted 3 got 49pt. It ended up with 64pt and it opened according to Media Create:

[PS3] Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception # (Sony Computer Entertainment) {2011.11.02} (¥5.980) - 124.989

The Last of Us has now 51pt, and could end with the same amount Uncharted 3 got. So... what do you people expect? Western games get not many pre-orders in COMG stores. I think The Last of Us could sell around 100k FW. Also according to Azalyn blog The Last of Us is the second game with more pre-orders in his store. GamesMaya also reported good pre-orders.

FAQ

What's COMG?

COMG! is a video game retailer that spawns ~16 stores spreaded across the Niigata Prefecture in Japan. They have a website where they publish the pre-order numbers for console and handheld titles. The pre-order numbers are updated daily on their website here.

What does 1 point represent? (Understanding the COMG system)

1 point = 1 pre-order in a COMG! store. That pre-order can come from any of the numerous COMG! stores.

In general, we can extrapolate 1 point = 1k pre-orders in the whole of Japan. Do note that this is a very rough equivalence as several trends and factors (such as the platform, the franchise , the publisher, the time of year, etc.) can influence the numbers. Experience as shown that COMG! stores tend to be often skewed towards Sony titles. That means Sony games usually end up with 1 point > 1k pre-orders. On the other hand, Nintendo titles are rather 1 point < 1k pre-orders.

Therefore, highly front-loaded games can sometimes reach 2/3 points = 1k pre-order whereas more obscure titles can be 1 point = 2k/3k pre-orders.

The best way to understand COMG! is by following it on a daily basis or asking questions to the people in this thread.

You can access the COMG archive here.

Why the new thread?

The decision to make a new thread spurs from peer pressure and the ability to take control of the opening post and the thread title. Also, I need more points.

Don't you mean 1 point for Nintendo is about 1k or above pre orders and Sony's numbers are less than 1 k per point?

Finally, a day where every game I like got preorders. A splattering of 1's, but it's enough!

1 per day for Atelier from now on for it to match the other games. Seems doable. I suppose I'd have to do some digging to find out whether previous EDF charted, but it's a tricky one since the last game was western-developed.

Toukiden continues to exceed my expectations - I don't know why they were so low considering it's Omega Force and it's the most Monster Hunter looking of all the clones, but still, I was expecting it to sell like Ragnarok Odyssey more than Soul Sacrifice, while it's definitely leaning towards even exceeding the latter (both had bundles, so both could have decent FW).

Neptunia way behind the PS3 games, though (52 combined for the first game; 110 combined for the second game; 91 combined for the third game). It's otaku as hell so if it's going to sell, it'll sell in the first week. Still, it could have up to 45 here, so might not do terribly. Plus PS3 points on here are inflated compared to Vita points.

And yeah, like Hiska says, TLOU is actually doing comparatively decently compared to Uncharted. I think U3 might outsell it FW just because it has franchise strength behind it and Japan generally seem to prefer existing franchises over new IP's, but still, a 100k FW would be mighty nice.

Yeah I think I'll rephrase it XD

I was wondering when we were going to see this game appear on the charts!

Welcome aboard, Pikmin 3!

Great, once again a Wii U game in the charts!

Yet another indication that 1 pt does not equal exactly 1 preorder at the stores. Games with the same point value shifting around indicates some internal factor involved.

Regardless, a Wii U game at last!
