Wasn't Gaist Crusher released this week as well? I think that's the bomb of the year.

Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

Yup, 8,053 according to Dengeki. If Capcom are expecting it to be the next big franchise, they'll have to be very patient.

Microtransactions do not a mobile game make. I'd like to see a game like Forza 5 or DS3 on smartphones, though... |
Simple gameplay also doesn't make something a mobile game. Mario & Donkey Kong on the eShop has very simple gameplay... In fact, the eShop is loaded with such games. But heaven forbid a company put real production value into making a fully-fledged handheld game based on a mobile IP. That's just awful. Won't someone think of the children!
PADZ is not a mobile game just because you guys can't see how its gameplay extends past the Bejeweled mechanic. I've said this before, but that would be like boiling Pokemon or Final Fantasy down to menu selection.

I wonder if there is a 3DS game entering today... could be this the first time there are more vita games than 3DS?
I'm wondering if all the people who don't care about Puzzle & Dragons are aware of how the japanese market is tending and how bad it looks. Read this article please:

I've been following japanese sales for a lot of years, and the way the market is heading scares me. The developers are switching consoles to mobiles, every year there're less games for traditional handhelds and consoles. Just look the line up for next year, almost nothing is big, and the IPs that were big in the past are not big anymore. 2014 is going to be a bad year for the japanese market. The big games are switching to mobiles (come on, Dragon Quest is there).
I'm very pessimistic about this. That's why I find Puzzle & Dragons as a KEY title. I mean, if the game is a truly succes on 3DS, maybe (just maybe) it can open the eyes to developers and come back to traditional handhelds and consoles. Maybe after the succes of P&D we see more mobile games and IP having console version. Maybe the huge decline we're heading can be stopped.
But the performance of this game should care everyone who loves games, japanese games. I say.

If I'm not wrong, it has happened before. Actually I think there was a time when only Sony devices had games in it.

I understand what you're saying, I've also been following the japanese sales for years and I'm just as sad about its decline. However I also think that the maybe you mentioned is a pretty improbable thing to happen.
P&D for 3DS is basically riding on the success of the original mobile game, I don't see how the success of the 3DS version could motivate developers like SE or Capcom to develop new instalments of series such as FFT or BoF or push new orinigal IPs on dedicated consoles/handhelds.
Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?
