Probably only a marginal chance, at the rate it's going, but it's not an outlandish idea either. I wouldn't bet on it, but wouldn't be shocked either. Even if it doesn't, I think it will do pretty well. I think it's already doing pretty good for what it is.

Wow! What is it about the Persona games that its remakes often do better than the original release? Persona 4 Golden did this too. And I know this is just preorders, but this is a comparison of a game releasing now to a game that released years ago when COMG was much more lively, and it's still kicking ass.

Could be a number of things.

The series has been steadily rising in popularity since Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 is at 2.7 million copies as of April 2019.

That, COMG generally favoring PlayStation titles, and the Smash Bros. effect are three factors that could lead to why P5R is doing as good as it is doing.
