Smash back up to the momentum it had two weeks ago. Still not good though. It needs to start getting at least 40 points a week, like immediately, or it'll start to lose ground. From there it only ramps up faster and faster. In a couple of weeks it'll need to get 50 a week just to keep up, but even 50 a week wouldn't be enough to even beat Splatoon. By the end it'll need to start earning 30 a DAY to beat Smash 4 combined totals.

Would the Direct have happened, I'm pretty sure the momentum would be good at the moment.

Yeah we really needed that direct. I hope it comes soon.

Most games tend to follow a similar pattern of momentum towards launch, no reason to think Smash Bros Ultimate won't do the same. I think it'll end up above the Smash 4 combined numbers.

I mean yeah, most games, especially major games like Smash, build lots of momentum near the end as hype builds for release. But one would hope that the pattern would hold not just near launch, but throughout the preorder period. After a small initial surge, points trickled in for Smash 4 up to this point, then in the next week they started to really take off. Smash Ultimate also started off with a surge, a much bigger one, and then points trickled in a bit faster, so one would hope the pattern would hold and it would take off massively, dwarfing the Smash 4 combined numbers. But if that were the case, I would have thought it would have taken off this week or maybe even earlier since there was supposedly so much more hype this time, and every week it doesn't take off from here on out is a week Smash 4 catches up.

Lately it's seemed like all games don't get the near launch momentum I expect, perhaps because COMG is just less popular now and people preorder elsewhere. If that's the reason, I'm sure Smash Ultimate will crush Smash 4 regardless of what COMG says. Still, I feel like I should temper my expectations so I'm both prepared for the worst but also get all the more hyped if it turns out I worried for nothing and Ultimate crushes everything and gets Pokemon level sales.

Crazy how little movement Pokemon is having. There any comparison we can make to past COMG progress? Maybe ORAS since it was a remake?

Yaaassss 2 points for Kingdom Hearts. Poor Atelier, though it's not surpising as it's just a collection of old games. Overall it was a good day.

XY, ORAS & USUM had not appeared at this point. SuMo were the only 3DS duo that did this early.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

FighterZ (PS4) had 29 points with 19 days left. So that's out of reach :P
Xenoverse 2 (Switch) wasn't on the chart at this point, afaik

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Smash on the 3DS is starting to reduce the gap. I wonder when will the Switch version start to accelerate.

Aquamarine(She has all NPD, GFK and etc data) and Benji(Market retailer insider) were saying Poke Let's Go is underperform badly compared to mainline/remake titles, might as well call it a spin-off rather than core series
