Wow, today was boring.

Booooring

13 - 3 Sony/Nintendo split for combined SKU.

Sony has Friday 13th, Border Break, and Grisaia, and SaGa (currently not on chart) releasing in 3 days and Nintendo has EOX and Famista Baseball (currently not on chart) releasing the same day. It should be a given that the BnHA game shows up but this should be time now for Super Mario Party, no? And what about Warriors Orochi 3 or Dark Souls Remastered for the Switch? There's no reason the chart should be this Sony-lopsided at this point.

Nintendo still has the majority of preorders, they are just more focused on Nintendo games over 3rd party games.

Literally been this way for years, even in 3DS prime  years Playstation dominated comg rankings.

Yes, but the Vita is practically no more. Surely you'd think that would change things, no?

Nope, go back and look at 2012/2013, PS3 was dominating comg.

No KH3 and SnK IV increase after yesterday. No!!!!!

@Marth Great data table!

Do you mind adding the recent Touhou game that did pretty decently on COMG and was practically nonexistant on MC? Just so there'd be a solid example of an otaku-aimed game's performance on the Switch.

Here is the data:

COMG Preorder: 27
COMG Weekly: 32
FW Media Create: Ranked #27. #20 was 2,614 units. 2,438 per Dengeki.

Using Dengeki's numbers,
Ratio Preorder: 90.3
Ratio Weekly: 76.2

As you can see, despite it being on the Switch, COMG heavily overestimated the Touhou game. This is in line with what I said earlier.

"From my perspective it is less Switch vs PS4 and more casual vs otaku. Touhou for instance is an otaku franchise. Even though it is on Switch I expect it to sell less than 1:1000. Whereas Taiko is a casual rhythm game. I expect it to sell more than 1:1000. Games that do well on COMG but not on MC are otaku games such as bishoujo visual novels and dungeon crawlers such as Island and Mary Skelter. Otaku are much more prone to pre-order something."

It's less about Sony vs Nintendo but rather otaku vs casual. And with the Vita on its deathbed, Switch will be getting more and more otaku games (like the Librarian is a Good Shepherd port that released last week) so this will only become more and more obvious as time goes on.
