The king is back, although I expected a bit more majestic entrance.

And FFXV...
...
...
like...
just look at it
even Gundam is beasting more than FFXV ever did.
I really want FFXV to do well, well in the sense decline will not be too bad...but there's no way around it, the decline looks just that, FFXV looks like a bomb.

I wonder what SEs expectations for the japanese market are, I mean they must know there will be a decline. Anyways I´m curious how Japan will react to XV once it releases, really don´t know if the market over there will dig it or not - I hope its the former. PS4 needs something that breaks atleast 1m over its lifetime (not talking FW sales btw, i´m not insane :p) ... (or did GTAV already do that?)

Around the Network

Monster Hunter XX at thirty-three points with 128 days left.

That thing is going to leapfrog to the top real quick after Pokémon is finished. To me, it shows how much no one liked Stories, when even the Monster Hunter name couldn't sell it in Japan.

Not even close. is about 1.4 million on PS3 and PS4, but PS4 version is only about 500k

FFXV getting only 1 point again and TLG not getting anything.

--------------------

As commented before, Monster Hunter Double Cross pre-orders were huge. Stores, of course, gave it some space on shelves, even more than usual for reservations of this kind, so it seems they expect great sales for the game.

At Santy Shop, the Animal Crossing amiibo cards are totally sold-out. No news about new shipments yet.

...and everything is prepared for this!

SE definitely believes japanese console market can be revitalized and is fighting back. Titles like Dragon Quest Heroes and Builders are perfect examples of targeting the japanese audience and at the same time building brand awareness in the west for DQ XI. Add Setsuna, SaGa, WoFF and it's a lot of games for japanese market when you think about it. I have a feeling I'm forgetting some games but Nier Automata is not one, I just think western influence is a big reason why the game is beind made in the first place. FFXIIHD was always going to be made after the success of FFXHD. As for FFXV, SE hands are tied. The legacy of the franchise, the vision it represents, the expectations, all that makes mainline FF games big. Whether it is realistic or not, SE is not allowed to have low sales expectations for a mainline FF anywhere.

Breaking the million barrier is possible, not talking exclusively FFXV but generally. If it happens it will be a long grind though.

500k PS4? Sounds a lot, you are being way too generous with digital sales or something else.

The OG GTA V for PS4 is something like 205k and the budget version is 180k as of week 42. Looking at last two weeks, GTA V could have sold about 7k max. Total retail is now roughly 390k.

Now GTA V PS4 has not done too well on Famitsu digital estimates which is understandable since the game is having great retail legs and there has not been any crazy digital discounts to my knowledge. Ignoring the Famitsu digital estimates and giving a very generous 15% digital, we are looking at 459k total sales. With 10%, 433k. So saying sales are about 500k is a bit much, right? GTA V PS4 will make it easily in the long run though.

edit: meant week 42 not week 44.
