Sad, but kinda foreseeable.  It is tonally at odds with where the rest of the series has been for a while, as a spin off it was doomed to be overshadowed by XV, and then there's the art style.  Not only is it artistically at odds with the rest of the FF franchise, its art style is actually two art styles and there are plenty of people who will be down with the more realistically proportioned cartoon style and not like the super deformed chibi style.  So this appeals strongly only to a sabset of a subset of a subset.

World of final fantasy flopping is nothing compared to Final Fantasy XV which is far more depressing after years of development hell and marketing

Having seen World of Final Fantasy in action now, I might pick it up.  It might be tonally dissonant with the newer entries in the series, but its nothing but fun and fanservice for fans of the older entries. Also they seem to have done a good job with the localization as well.

This flopping will probably sadly be enterpreted as: 'Our fans want more emo boys and less humor from our games'....:/

How much does it need to sell to not be a  disappointment?

01./00. [PSP] SD Gundam G Generation: Overworld <SLG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.09.27} (¥6.280) - 209.815 / NEW <85,95%>

In that ballpark, imo.

We shouldn´t call it a flop until WW sales are in. Type-0 HD also sold quite low in Japan and managed to get to 1M copies shipped. Though I see WoFF as a way harder sell (and I personally think it won´t do well everywhere) I wouldn´t write it off instantly just because it performed bad on COMG.

It's a harder sell but it's a better game and the reception seems good.  Hopefully good word of mouth can help it at least become a success.

Yeah. But that marketing was barely focused on Japan. And if you don´t push marketing in a country more and more decreasing in console and software sales - this should´ve been obvious. The fact the last entry has mixed reception doesn´t really help. I say XV will do fine but I doubt it will do bigger numbers (WW) than what FF normally does.

Dunno if its better. I personally really enjoyed Type-0 and havn´t dived into WoFF yet, so I guess I will see.
