we need digital sales tracked on here =(  without it people will think X&Y sold poorly, when in reality it will pass all previous gens bar 1...and maybe 2

Wow, talk about shortage of supply. I really think Comgnet will cease to be a good indicator of sales with digital sales breaking through.

It seems crazy on Nintendo's part to intentionally limit stock. Not everyone is going to turn to digital and many will simply pick up something else, not necessarily on a Nintendo console either.

And if it's not in stores you can forget any significant bump in hardware if less informed customers simply have no way to know about it unless they already own the hardware.

I assume this comes down to them really struggling to create enough stock to satisfy a worldwide launch.

The talk about shortage of supply and digital is just plain old damage control for low preorders. The same is happening in the thread about USA preorders.

Amazon seems to have plenty of supply and Pokémon is available for preorder more often than not while the opposite is true for MH4.

Besides I'm fairly certain that Comgnet keeps on taking preorders regardless of suply ie. MH4.

O.o there is no damage control with Pokemon or MH4, supply is constrained, that's a fact! MH4 was doing low numbers before hiska confirmed us that they increased the shipment.

Now, in Japan most of digital sales won't be directly from the e-shop, most of them will come from Download Cards, like Nintendo did with Animal Crossing. It proved to be very effective, and it's very likely that both Capcom, and Nintendo will eventually state the digital sales of these titles, as they are their biggest franchises.
