never heard this, is this actually true? lol

No... well I never saw that and I had look all the Sony presentation slides published in the Sony sites.

It wasn't a press conference, it was a shareholders conference, and someone was taking cell phone shots.

Yes it's true, I'll look for the article later, It was published a little after the PS4 debut.

Upon furthur inspection, it may have been a prediction by Web bush, which has since been reduced. Their screenshot looks identical to the one I saw earlier.

The problem with your standpoint is that you think both of the companies are "breathing life" into their systems. That's the problem, they aren't. (Or aren't doing it enough, at least.)

Nintendo can't and won't drop the Wii U. That would crush their public and business image while making many of their customers mad at them for having purchased a totally failed system. It can't happen this soon.
Sony can't and won't drop the PSV either. Even though they aren't selling anywhere near good, they still have some size of a user base that needs to have something to do with their system. Sony also needs to start doing something with this system as it's been out in the wild with nothing for it to look forward to for quite awhile. This system is in a more dire situation.

Neither companies can drop their system. It would be a horrendous idea.

the WiiU will be alright but the vita is a niche product by all accounts but if you can make a profit selling to that fanbase then why not keep it going, you might strike out a hit somewhere along the line

I think Nintendo and Sony should just join forces

I don't think that would work out well.

Why would Sony discontinue the Vita when its probably just making them profit right now? At this point it'll do more harm than good.

Me neither - it was half lol-joke, half wishing nintendo didn't drop them for philips in the past

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

sony wanted to have all the rights for the software they would put on their disks, this means mario etc on the disks would have totally belonged to sony.
