Forums - Nintendo - Indie dev says Nintendo going out of their way to pamper indie crowd

I really believe that things like that don't just happen out of the blue. There must be something that Nintendo does differently for that to happen.

In the meantime we have two testimonials of tiny companies (the guys who make Shantae and some other self-described tiny indy) that get full support from Nintendo, can you really trust the already suspicious claim by Avalanche, who just really seem to have not made the effort like Bong Lover put it so well?

Talal, I'm at the point where I can't buy this BS anymore. It smells like BS, and it is BS, because if small meaningless indies get Nintendo's full support, I have no reason to believe that another indie (Avalanche) was getting snubbed, unless this is some kind of old news.

And it's not an NoE vs NoA thing either, since Wayforward is in California and that unnamed indie is invited to a conference in Madrid so I'm guessing they're european.

Okay, you may be right, but what I'm asking is, why would Avalanche say that about Nintendo? What did Nintendo do differently to get that type of treatment?

If Avalanche's info is outdated, then it could be bad habits of Nintendo's in the past regarding indie devs. I believe the new push to be there for indies and make their lives easier is a recent push, so that could be a reason.

Other than that, it's a trend in the media to bash Nintendo and give them minimal effort. Avalanche's criticism would fall into that idea: make no effort, blame Nintendo. Another example of that is EA.

We are a tiny indie developer and NEVER had issues to get in contact with Nintendo. They invited us to a conference in Madrid and are constantly checking what we are doing.

Now watch the haters say that Nintendo babies 3rd party/indie devs way too much....

And the truth comes out. I hope everyone who bashed Nintendo for things they didn't do will be put to shame.

This statement doesn't exclude what Avalanche said.  It's quite possible that for them Nintendo have been difficult to get in contact with; but for a smaller team it has been a different experience.

Especially since the first line is "We are a tiny indie dev".  Quite the opposite of the 200+ team that Avalanche are.

Falls in line with the eShop push that we've been hearing about recently, pretty much.

well, a relationship is a cooperation between both parts, not just one. It is neccesary for both, not just for Nintendo, to keep that relationship alive. Avalanche is just hoping Nintendo beg them.

Don't worry, instead of that they will say that Nintendo is desperate.

that would be pretty funny of them to say when sony is doing the same exact thing building good relationships with indie developers
